About Me

"Within any scene, there is always a few artists who stay under the radar just enough to be anonymous in the crowd when all the while their name and sound maintains a steadfast buzz in the minds of all of the heads in the scene. Dave Sabel is one of those artists." - Johnny Pipedreams, Peace 'n Pipedreams Radio Show
One of Chicago’s Best Kept Underground Secrets, Dave Sabel, aka D.Sabel, perfectly personifies the new breed of Electronic musician who grew up in the digital age using intuitive software programs, like Reason & Ableton, to spontaneously express their musical ideas with a blast of emotion.
In 1995, after playing guitar and singing in various punk-rock bands during his teen years, Dave started exploring the Electronic medium and became fascinated with how some DJs could apply their own personal vision to the music; elevating it to a new art form without compromising musically. By 1997, this inspiration led to experimentation with loops on the computer and he began to purchase Electronic LPs.
Come the new century, Dave teamed up with Future Prophet to form Sit N Spin Productions; a collective of local DJs & producers with their sight set on preserving the sounds & attitudes of the Underground. In 2002, the crew made their debut in the local Chicago scene and Sit N Spin Productions became a local planning and promotion juggernaut involved with a myriad of area crews, collectives and events spanning the Midwest; not to mention being directly responsible for some of the biggest Underground parties the Northwest Chicago area had ever seen! This hard work and dedication turned Sit N Spin into a memorable and credible venture not to be forgotten.
In summer 2007, Dave released Volumetric; a mix consisting of original material along with remixes and edits of many of his favorite tracks which stirred up quite a buzz in the local minimal/techno community. The album received strong support from many of Chicago’s tried and true Electronic musicians/DJs along with nods from International players Swazak, Itzone, and Georg Neufeld.
Since, Dave has continued build his reputation in the Chicago dance community through ingenious remix skills and dynamic brand of funky minimal techno & house by playing at familiar Chicago venues. Currently, Dave is in the studio again working on a cluster of original works as well as a new mix album due out early summer 2009.
With all the love, hard work, and dedication he has shared with the scene for more than a decade as evidence, it is safe to say that D. Sabel will be an artist to be seen and heard by Electronic music fans and fanatics for years to come…
