I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Welcome to my MySpace page. I hope you like it!
My name is Justin Toney, and here is my story. Life began for me in the summer of 1983 when I was born to parents Ricky and Marie. Life growing up as typical and I spent most of my time hanging out with friends, playing video games, and watching scifi shows like Star Trek and Star Wars.
I always knew that I would be destined for great things, and as my life continued to unfold, that destiny made itself known. I found out at an early age that I loved to make little films. I can remember loading the old RCA VHS camera and filming little space battles with my Micro Machines Star Trek ships. I loved doing this and I think that it helped to shape what my career was going to be. As time move forward I started working in television and radio where I really had a chance to put my knowledge to the test. At the age of 19, I became the producer for a nationally syndicated radio show and editor and producer for the television aspect of that program. At this point I had really forgotten the main reason for getting into the media field.
By 2005 I was on my way to getting a degree in Communications. After a few changes in degrees, I finally found where my heart was leading me. However, this dream would have to wait. In September of 2005, hurricane Rita (the forgotten storm) made its impact in Southwest Louisiana causing damage and devastation which would cripple most of the cost of Louisiana. By the time this storm reached us, I really didn't know where life was going to take me. I was working a dead end job at a tv station, and it seemed that nothing was going to go my way. However, once life returned to a normal state in my hometown, I was able to start making the final leap into a career. The first push for something in the media realm came with a documentary which was supposed to be created for our experiences with the storm. Mine was pretty lengthy and was regarded, by my class, as a shinning example of what someone can do with a bit of time and imagination. I saw this project as one which would jump start me into making small films.
2006 was finally here and I was looking for something that I could really put my talents towards. By this point, I had been working with 3d applications, and was learning how to create ships and animate scenes, but I was still in the infant stage of learning. Luckily, as time went on, I had a chance to visit Star Trek the Experience in Las Vegas. I had finally come full circle to my career choice and I started asking myself the real question of what did I want to do with my life.
It came as no surprise that I had always wanted to do film and television, but I didn't quite know how I was going to do either of them. All of my professors were pushing me to do something great and I just needed to get off my rear and find something to do. My big break came when Dr. Chrisco made the statement that if there is something you love to do, then you need to go for it; and with that I was on my way. I had proposed a scenario where I could goto the Experience and film a mini documentary both on what was at the attraction and the convention which was taking place in August. Approval was given and filming took place.
Speaking about the conventions, I really started to make a name for myself with a few music videos that I had produced. Star Trekkin was the first of these videos and has been regarded as one of the best in terms of content and production. Later in 2007 I decided to go towards a new goal with the production of the TNG 20th anniversary salute which included a tribute to Gene Roddenberry. Once the Roddenberry family had a chance to see what was done for this video, the immediately elected me as Member of the Month for September 2007 and later as Member of the Year for 2007-08.
I finally knew where I was headed in terms if career choices and life goals when I had an opportunity to speak with Leonard Nimoy about his suggestions and tips for college grads. Nimoy spoke of the fact that it is important to get your work out to an audience, no matter what the cost is. He encouraged me to start doing what I love and let everyone know my full potential. His statement really encouraged me to reach for my true goals and not listen to what society might be saying.
Who knows what will happen next. I am optimistic about the future and hope that one day I will get my chance to work beside some of the greatest. JT '08
My Grandpa Jones
Pawpaw was a unique person; he loved life, God, and his family. He always made sure he provided the best for his family, regardless of his situation. He was a father, a brother, and a Sergeant in the Army. Although the last couple of years was hard on him, he never stopped enjoying the times he spent with his family. Now that he is gone, we must reflect on the good, and remember that we will see him again....soon! I love you Paw Paw!
