About Me

B"H

About me:

-I consider myself a kind-hearted person who loves to help others. I know that without the support and help from others past, present, and future, I am nothing. So, I thank all of you who have helped me to become the person I am today. WIth your help and prayers, I strive to become a Proverbs 31 woman (in Torah, titled Eishet Hayil)..."Many daugthers have done worthily, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is naught; a G-d fearing woman is one to be praised. Give her praise for her accomplishments, and let her deeds laud her at the gates."

-At USF, I am a member of the best sorority, Lambda Psi Delta Sorority, Incorporated. We are a multi-cultural, community service based sorority founded on March 9, 1997 at Yale University. USF is the Epsilon Chapter. I love my sisters, they are the best! Like Diamonds we shine like tigers we roar! Check out what my beautiful sorority is all about at www.lambdapsidelta.org

-I decided to convert to Judaism and am religious now. In terms of my appearance, I am conservative. However, I am not conservative in thought! I think I am rather radical because I am extremely independent (LADIES, GET IT! Don't depend on a man to support you). I am very tolerant of others beliefs/lifestyles/points-of-view, even if I disagree with them (they have to have legitimate facts to back up their argument though). I am an optimist that believes that even though there is much strife in the world, I like to think that through my activism and community service work I am doing G-d's will by helping others. Some might think I am "boring" now, but I like my life now. I have peace from G-d and love from my family and friends. What more could a girl want?.......................

-I am looking for a man who will respect me and not try to change me, if there is such a thing! What you see is what you get!I am always looking to make new friends, keep in touch with my current ones :-), networking opportunities or just cool people in general to talk about common interests. If you like my profile, please add me as a friend or send me a note. I love mail!

-I work for a non-profit organization called It's All About Kids, Inc. in Tampa, Florida. Check us out at www.itsallaboutkids.org We are a non-profit that strives to help children and adolescents in the underprivileged areas of Tampa with educational programs that focus on literacy, etiquette and manners, and nutrition. I am currently the Director of the Literacy-related programming. I also work at a library as a technical assistant.

-Another passion of mine is activism. However, in the past year, I have not been as active as I was in the past due to my heavy work load. I feel very strongly about literacy awareness (which I get to do everyday at my job!) and genocide awareness. Darfur needs to stop now!

-I am a Hello Kitty fanatic!!! I have been collecting Hello Kitty (and Sanrio) things since I was 10 years old! Hello Kitty is FOREVER COOL!!!

-I LOVE my family. WITHOUT THEM, I AM NOTHING!!! My parents are immigrants. My father is originally from Honduras and my mother is Costa Rican. I spent a lot of my childhood in Costa Rica, so I consider myself more Costa Rican (culturally speaking) than Honduran and American. Regardless, I am Costa Rican-Honduran-American-QUE RICA COMBINACION!.

-I also lived in New York City for three years and a part of my "heart" is definately there. My 'hood was Washington Heights, near Fort Tyron Park. Those were good and bad times, and many, many unforgettable memories. However, I definately grew-up there because it was the first time I ever was independent!

-I love animals, especially cats, dogs and dolphins. I have a 13 year old cat named Charlie. He is so cute! At my home we also have another cat named Tracey who is very playful.

My Interests

B"H G-d is good. I am blessed. I am currently undergoing the process to convert to Judaism.I am an activist. Unfortunately, due to my heavy work load, I have been unable to be as active as I was before in genocide awareness activism. JUST REMEMBER, AFTER THE HOLOCAUST WE SAID "NEVER AGAIN"...and I plan to stick to that, even when the world is not! ....PLEASE INFORM YOURSELF AND MOBILIZE TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE DYING SENSELESSLY DUE TO THE GENOCIDE IN DARFAR, SUDAN...THIS NEEDS TO STOP NOW!!!!! There are injustices happening all over the world. For example, Sierra Leone is still suffering (and will be for a long time) the issues associated with the civil war and the "blood" or "conflict" diamonds which helped fuel that war. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BUY CONFLICT FREE DIAMONDS... OR JUST DON'T BUY THEM AT ALL! THE KIMBERLEY PROCESS WAS CREATED FOR A REASON!On a lighter note, I LOVE VINTAGE FASHION!!!!! , especially from 1920's-1950's and Golden Age of Hollywood glamour. I LOVE Christina Aguilera's vintage look right now. She is absolutely the best dressed artist right now!!!! Also, I enjoy classic Italian and French styled clothing, especially vintage Chanel (tweed suits and fashion accessories, like the chain-like strap purses and fabulous FAUX fashion jewelry). I also love items from the fashion houses of Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace, Armani, Tom Ford (for Gucci), Carolina Herrera and Issac Mizrahi. Right now, Issac Mizrahi is my favorite American designer for his chic and simple style. I love handbags of all size, shape, or color!!!

I'd like to meet:

Elie Wiesel, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Kofi Anan, Ellen DeGeneres, Alicia Keys (again), Mary J. Blige, Bono (he's the man!), Tony Dungy (Indianpolis Colts Coach), Talib Kweli, Justin Timberlake, Ashley Judd, Alejandro Saenz, Presidente Oscar Arias President of Costa Rica and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize

Music:

Mostly anything, except heavy metal and hate music.

Movies:

I like all types of movies.

Television:

I like all types of TV shows. My favorite TV channels are PBS and HBO. They always tend to have higher quality programming than other channels. My favorite TV show on network TV is "Law and Order" (all three: the original, CI, and SVU). Of the three, my favorite is "Law and Order: CI."

Books:

THE TORAH!!! (enough said).AFTER THE TORAH, THERE ARE TOO MANY TO NAME!!! I am an aspiring librarian! My favorite book of all time is "Night" by Elie Wiesel. This book has profoundly changed how I view and approach life. If you haven't read it, you should. It's incredible. One book I read recently that really motivated me was "The Pursuit of Happyness" by Chris Gardner. My favorite book from my childhood is "Alice In Wonderland." I just love this book! I also have recently started collected "Alice In Wonderland" memorabilia. Alice is awesome... and the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts are not far behind!

Heroes:

My Family (father, mother, brother), mi tia (my aunt)Carmen-38 YEARS SURVIVOR OF BREAST CANCER AND STILL IN REMISSION! She lost a breast and refused to wear a prosthetic--now that gangster!, Elie Wiesel and all of those people who lived our WORST NIGHTMARE--those who survived and didn't survive the Holocaust No matter what happens, we can never forget these courageous people..."NEVER AGAIN". Nelson Mandela-SO YOU THINK YOUR GANGSTA, HUH? Oprah, for always keepin' it real, Pope John Paul (for all of his humanitarian efforts during his lifetime), Mother Theresa, Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts Coach), President Oscar Arias (Costa Rica) and Nobel Prize Winner of 1987 ANYONE who is REAL and HONEST about themselves and who willing to selflessly help others without expecting anything in return!
