Art. Art is awesome. Art is fun. Art--I love art. I enjoy looking at it, and I enjoy making it, and I enjoy learning about it, and I enjoy being taught how to do it. I love art.
My favorite art medium right now is brush and ink. I also like doing pastels--caulk and oil. I have done almost every 2-D medium of art that I have come across including acrylic, watercolor, charcol, pencil, and marker. Some of the few that I haven't tried--but want to and I'm working on it--are oil paint, airbrushing, egg tempra, and printmaking. And I have done some 3-D media work also--clay, pottery throwing, subtractive with plaster and soapstone, assemblage, and form building. I really enjoy working with 3-D media.
I have an artsite where I post some of my pieces and some sketches. deviantART site --though it is very much in need of an update right now.
As far as traditional versus digital media, I prefer traditional media. Im not too good a digital media, but it is still fun. I like traditional media, not only because I'm better at it, but also because I like the feel of medium in my hands, the smell, and mess I get to make while using them.
I like writing also--I've written poems and stories. Right now I'm working on a tragedy-drama story. It started as a short story, but has grown to epic porportions. Today it is over 60 pages and well over 17,000+ words. And I hope to be finishing it very soon.
I love music--rarely do I ever not have any playing, and I don't ever go a day without listening to some kind of music. And I love all kinds of music, too.
Rock is my favorite--Alternative, Hard Rock, Emo, Screamo, Punk, Metal.
I like many different types of music. Other kinds of music I like include Classical, Oldies, Easylistening, 80's, Rock and Roll, Disco, Pop, and Opera. Opera being the one I listen to the most, next to Rock.
Heavy Metal is okay every-now-and-then in moderation, but only when I feel like it. Older Country is okay too, none of this new crap. And I don't really listen to Rap, unless I am with Aryn--but there are a few songs that I really like for one reason or another.
Instrament-wise, I can play the violin, but I haven't had lessons in about 6 months, so I am a little rusty. I have attempted to teach myself to guitar, but that didn't go as successfully as I wanted. So I have decided to stick to the violin, and I am working on teaching myself more. Oh, and I did play the Oboe for a year in band in the 6th grade. Actually, I didn't like that too much, because it sounds like a duck and I was the only Oboe playing with a group of 12 flutes. I still thing the Oboe sounds like a duck.
On another note, I really like records. Last year, I got my grandfather's record player, because he moved into a smaller house, and now I can't get enough of it. I have already bought a few records of my own and am working on a larger collection. I actually got a new record player for my 20th birthday, and it is simply beautiful--portable and gorgeous.
This is what I have been listening to lately:
Movies are great, because just about everything in life relates to a movie, and because I love movie quotes.
I like all kinds of movie, though I probably like action flicks the best. The other types I watch the most are drama, suspense, horror, and comedy.
My favorite movies include Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Fight Club, Interview with a Vampire, Tombstone, Memento, and Equilibrium.
I am willing to watch most movies more than once, especially if I liked it, and if I really liked it, then more than that. I won't watch a movie again if I really, really disliked it. I haven't found many of those, because I try to give them a second chance to impress me. But I really like watching movies I haven't ever seen before.
I love VHS tapes! They are so cheep right now and my collection is growing quickly. And I am a little partial to old school stuff because of the nostalgia.
One of the coolest things is quoteing a movie and having someone else understand your reference. Another cool thing is movie trivia--I like that.
Also, Netflix has to be one of the coolest things on the internet, ever.
I don't really watch a lot of television.
Though I am addicted to Seinfeld. I love that show. It might be one of my alltime favorite shows (next to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, when I was like 3--even though they are still cool, the old school version that is). Seinfeld has to be one of the most relatable shows there is. I mean come on, how can a show about nothing not be cool?
I even want to get it on DVD one day--probably one of the only shows I want on DVD. So far I have the first 4 seasons. ^_^
My other sort of television addiction is anime, even though I don't watch it on TV. I usually watch it on DVD--rented through Netflix--or on my computer--as downloaded fansubs. On that note, in the big sub versus dub debate, I will have to take both sides, because often times both are good. I like subs because I can watch a bigger variety of shows thanks to them and often the characteristics of the voice actor are mantained. I like dubs if the dub is a good dub and because there are very good voice dub artist--some of my favorites are Steve Blum and Chrispin Freeman. Most of the time, I watch an entire anime in whichever format I begin it in with a few exceptions.
Some of my favorite anime include Cowboy Bebop, PLANETES, Hellsing, FLCL, GetBackers, Saiyuki, and Beck.
I enjoy reading immensely. I like mysteries, tragedy, and classics the most. The last two books that I finished were Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk and Violin by Anne Rice--both of which have made the favorite book list. I plan on reading some more classics soon, like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Frankenstein. Right now, I am reading The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. The movie was great, and the book is better. Plus, she is a great writer.
I am also reading A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, The Wings of The Dove by Henry James, The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl, and A Study In Scarlet by Sir Authur Conan Doyle.
One of my favorite authors in Edgar Allan Poe. He was an awesome author, and I love the way he writes. I have his complete works which I hope to finally finish reading one day. And Anne Rice--she is wonderful writer. And I seem to be falling more in love with Chuck Palahniuk's work as I read more.
I also enjoy manga. I like the art paired with the story-telling. Some of my favorite series are Hot Gimmick, The Demon Ororon, Model, Mars, and Rebirth. And I love Shojo Beat--one of the best things that Viz ever did.
Well, of course, my cartoon superhero. lol
And "I wanna be like Mike."
I probably look up to my parents the most. They are probably the biggest rolemodels in my life. Even though I am grown up now and have developed a lot of who I am, they are still important examples in my life.
And my friends too! I look up to so many of them--I have great friends.
