Ravenswood Community Orchestra

About Me

Who are we? The Ravenswood Community Orchestra started in 2000 as a group of instrumentalists from St Benedict's Parish. Over the years we have grown into a group of more than 50 members who play from the standard orchestral repertoire. In 2004 we changed our name officially to Ravenswood Community Orchestra to reflect our wider community orientation. We now present three to four concerts each year for the Ravenswood community. A sound clip from our performance of Buckaroo Holiday is posted here. Scroll down and you can play the video from our performance of Dvorak's New World Symphony. Other videos posted here include snippets from Copland's Rodeo, the Elgar Cello Concerto, the Mozart Horn Concerto, Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien and Smetana's Moldau. If you are interested in more information about our orchestra leave a message through myspace and include your email address if possible. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RESPOND TO YOUR INQUIRY THROUGH MYSPACE IF YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS ALLOW ONLY MESSAGES FROM FRIENDS AND DO NOT ACCEPT FRIEND REQUESTS FROM BANDS. Band Members: What kind of people are we looking for? Our group is fun-loving, but we also love to make great music. If you play at a college level proficiency for your instrument you would probably feel comfortable playing with us. Our musicians range in age from college students to grandparents. You'll find many of our members here in our top friends group on myspace. We currently have openings for strings and a few winds. If you have prior orchestra, concert band or similar ensemble experience, no audition is required. To inquire about openings, please leave a message here with your regular email address or email us at [email protected]. Influences: We are supported by donations from the local community. To place an ad in our concert program, please leave a message here or at [email protected].
