About Me

Free Album Download at www.NathanLongMusic.com

Nathan Long is a songwriter whose recipe is equal parts theology and poetry. His newest album, Progress, touches on topics like technological obsession, sex in advertising, and the role of faith in obedience, bringing the words of Christ to bear on everyday issues.

As an independent artist, Nathan has had the honor of opening for musicians like worship leader Matt Papa and accomplished songwriters like Tony Arata. Following several successful home and live recording releases, Nathan teamed up with Nashville producer Stephen Gause to record Progress, his first full-production album.

Nathan's musical influences include early Counting Crows, Rich Mullins, Paul Simon and Derek Webb.

Progress is currently available as a free download at www.NathanLongMusic.com - donations are optional. It can also be purchased (coming soon) via CDBaby.com, Amazon MP3, and iTunes.

Nathan is currently booking concerts in the Augusta, Georgia area.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.NathanLongMusic.com
Band Members: Nathan Long
Influences: Derek Webb, Andrew Peterson, Rich Mullins, Pedro the Lion, They Might Be Giants, Five Iron Frenzy (mainly in sense of humor), Counting Crows (I'm less whiny though).
Non-musical: C.S. Lewis has had a large influence on my thought processes (Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, all the Narnia and Space Trilogy books), and in recent years, so has John Piper (Desiring God, The Pleasures of God). As an adolescent I loved Isaac Asimov, which has probably made me dorkier; I actually enjoy writing html code for my web page.
Sounds Like: Hmmm... you might hear a little Third Day, maybe some Rich Mullins or Andrew Peterson. Hear something else? Leave a message and let me know - maybe I'll add it.

Derek Webb's lyrical genius

If you've never heard of Derek Webb, it's about time you did. Formerly of Caedmon's Call, Derek is probably my favorite living songwriter, and has a wonderful way of expressing the mysteries of God an...
