LoriAnn's brand new album "Also Known As Love" is now available for purchase on her website www.loriann.biz!! She has uploaded some of the songs for you to listen to here on myspace. LoriAnn is very excited about the release of her new album!!
LoriAnn was selected as "Favorite New Female Vocalist" for the months of March & April on the www.newcountrystar.com website. LoriAnn's original song,"Mama's Song, has most recently been selected as one of 10 songs on a Clear Channel compilation CD which will benefit the homeless. She will be appearing at the Walt Disney World Amphitheatre at Lake Eola in Orlando, FL on May 27th for the Big Wahoo CD Release & Awareness Festival to launch the project. Back in January 2006, she was one of the Top 43 finalists out of 50,000 contestants from all over the world, for the "Nashville Star" show on the USA network!! She is no stranger to the Nashville music scene, as she has been a featured songwriter at many of Nashville's venues, including The Bluebird Cafe. She also headlined the band Sugar Shack, as lead singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist.
If you were watching this 5'1" petite young lady sing, at times you might think she was almost lip-syncing. Her extraordinarily powerful voice belies her diminuitive stature, with a contagious smile that captures every person in the audience. She is a contemporary singer/songwriter who draws you into her own little world the minute she hits her first note. In an almost Jimmy Buffet-like fashion, LoriAnn has gained an eclectic fan-base in Northern Florida. She has called St. Augustine, FL home for quite a while now. "You just can't beat the people in this town. All of my fans have become more like a huge family to me!"
She is well-known for her commercial songwriting and phenomenal voice, but almost equally for that "it" factor that you just can't seem to put your finger on. You might not be able to put your finger on it, but if you see her live you'll get "it!" She has a unique aura that engages an audience ranging from 4 year-olds to ninety-seven year-olds. I have a sneaking suspicion that people subconciously attend her shows on a regular basis, not only to hear that deep throaty voice, but also to absorb some of that optimism and sunny outlook on life.
She is a self-proclaimed mutt (half-southern and half-northern). "My mother is from Tifton, Georgia and my father is from Rye, New York. I was raised like a southern child in the heart of NY." Now why in the world would she ever be a little confused? All I can say is from all that confusion, she has been able to clearly create a perfect blend of americana and hip country music that is uniquely universal.
She released her newest release "This Town" last year, and she's creating quite the buzz. When you attend one of LoriAnn's shows, you will find people requesting her original music over and over again. "It makes me smile to know I have the power to touch so many people with my original music, and that is the reason I do what I do." It's just a matter of time (which might not be that much longer), before you will be hearing more and more about her! "I'm just waiting for that "bit of luck," where preparation meets opportunity! God Bless!"
