Since 1987...the one...the only...the original...Burden of Proof.
And yes, the transfer quality on these songs totally sucks. We’ll be doing new, better transfers eventually. We’ll also see about digitizing a live recording taken off-the-board at a CB’s matinee.
Info for the record collectors:
There were two pressings of our 12" back in early 1988. The first pressing of 500 has black center labels with white lettering. Many copies of the first pressing also had extra inserts included along with the lyric sheet. Some had a drawing of Elvis done by a friend of Mike’s who had no arms and used their feet to draw. Others had revealing photos of a certain band member’s ex-girlfriend. And then others had some stupid thing Pete printed up, some "Life’s A Beach" shit. This first pressing came from the pressing plant with all copies shrinkwrapped, which was not what we wanted since we still had to insert the photocopied lyric sheets we made up and had to sit there unwrapping all of them. The only sealed copies are a couple the band held aside. This first pressing was sold by Jon and Brian outside NY-area shows and brought to all the local NYC and LI indie record shops.
We had printed up 1000 sleeves right at the start, since it was a better deal in that quantity. After the first pressing sold out, we pressed another 500 copies to go along with the remaining sleeves. The second pressing has white center labels with black lettering, and does not include any additional inserts other than the lyric sheet. The lyric sheet in the second pressing also has the original band contact address crossed out. Approximately 200-300 copies of the second pressing were given to a NY-based distributor who soon after went bankrupt and never paid us a dime, so we have no clue where these records were sent. We never got our money, but one of the guys who ran the distribution company did get a cinder block through the windshield of his sports car one night.
If you have a copy of our record, send a note letting us know where you got it. Curious as to how far this thing actually made it outside the NYC area.
And if you don’t already have the record, we’ve found a small quantity of unsold copies. If you’re interested in one, let us know.
