rants from a troubled beyotch

About Me

This is my sister Robin. She is in Iraq fighting for the freedoms we all take for granted everyday. Let's bring this war to an end and vote for Obama .
Come home safe, baby sister.
Other than that, I'm an intelligent college-educated gal. I teach voice, violin and viola, sing with DeCantus , and have performed occasionally with the Minnesota Opera chorus and in the pit orchestra of the Bloomington Civic Theater . I have been married since 2004 to a superbly British fop , he never ceases to make me giggle. I have been a vegetarian off and on since I was 15, but have made a real commitment in 2000 and haven't eaten any meat since then. I believe in God and consider myself to be a Christ Follower . Don't know what that is? Maybe you should check out the link. I enjoy theater, the arts, travel, friends, and my brilliant family. Ich spreche ein kleiner Deutscher, since I have a family in Germany and enjoy talking with people in my broken second language. I'm actually a really good listener, and love chatting up people. I absolutely adore Air America radio. Want to get on my good side? Let's talk about how sexy Thom Hartmann's brain is, shall we? I'm a left-leaning liberal. And I like it that way.
I'm a movie star! Thanks to Ryan for letting me be a small part of a really cool project!!
And this was from the Streaming Twin Cities show I did at the Fringe Festival. Thanks Phil !
Someday I plan on going back to school and getting my master degree and probably D.M.A. or Ph.D, but I need to figure that stuff out yet. In the meantime, I'll enjoy teaching my students, watching them sneeze on their sleeves, and reminding them for the 40^nth time to loosen their bows before they leave. Check out my blog I've had forever on livejournal.

My Interests

Music, theater, art, violin, instruments, God, travel, religion, the Goodwill, intelligence, sisters, family, carnies , my daddy, England, Germany, Minnesota Renaissance Festival , Minnesota, snow, chuck taylors , the Minnesota Opera. There are more of course, but those are some of the main ones. I'm a pretty weird person. Sometimes you just don't know what I might say at any given time, as I tend to say what is on my mind, a general weakness and strangely enough, a source of strength. I dyed my hair black recently. I don't know if I like enough to keep it.... I am shy with strangers. That might shock some of my friends, but it is true. I have a potty mouth and a love of twisted humor.

If you have time to look at my shitty site, you can take two seconds and help someone out.
..

I'd like to meet:

Theater folk. Artists. Musicians. Kindred spirits. Anyone who can hold my attention. Good people with lovely souls from all over.As far as bands go, I am all about supporting the local music scene, so send me a message if your band is a quality act. Who knows, maybe I'll come see you.

Music:

Radiohead, Ben Folds, Bjork, Sara McLachlan, Portishead, Paul Van Dyke, Orbital, Fiona Apple, Ella Fitzgerald, Flogging Molly, The Prodigy, Moby, Marylin Manson, Muse, Tori Amos, classical music like Vivaldi, Bach, Schumann, Paganini, Brahms, Mozart and Poulenc (just to name a few), jazz and opera. I ♥ techo, or electronic music as the kiddies call it nowadays, and I am always open to more music. It's got to be good! Absolutely no country music. Ever.

Movies:

Star Wars, Amelie, Austin Powers trilogy, Back to the Future trilogy, Clue, Drop Dead Fred, The Princess Bride, Monty Python, Matrix trilogy, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually, Harry Potter, Shrek, Spaceballs, V for Vendetta, any Adam Sandler flick, Run Lola Run, A Very Long Engagement. I love series on DVD too; the Muppet Show, 'Allo 'Allo, Thin Blue Line. Anything that gets me weepy is okay, I enjoy scary movies, and all the Disney films. I'll try anything once when it comes to movies.

Television:

...

Books:

Recently: Thom Hartmann's Screwed!, and The Ethical Slut, J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King Roald Dahl's The Witches, The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, James and the Giant Peach

Heroes:

MY DADDY ! Our troops who are serving our country. Abuse survivors, kids of alcoholics, opera singers, people who can pick themselves up by their bootstraps in the midst of chaos and make a future for themselves. Anyone can be a hero. I don't worship a lot of people, I just am mostly impressed with everyday heros. And Ben Folds because his music rocks.
