About Me

Alex Naar was born in Panama City, Panama, where he lived until the age of seven. Faced with hardships of political instability in Panama, his family made the decision to migrate to Toronto, Canada, where he would eventually focus on his ambition to pursue a musical career. Growing up watching MTV and listening to mainly English rock and pop, Alex had not been fully exposed and had a limited understanding of the musical aspects of his Latin roots. It wasnt until his high school years where he ultimately came to fully appreciate and understand Latin music and embrace it with a newfound respect. After experimenting with several instruments, he decided to specialize with the Saxophone. He then got his first break in the Toronto Latin scene playing with Bachata Swing band, which eventually became La Banda Bella, the most popular Merengue Band in Canada. As a Merengue and Bachata musician, he learned about the art of performing and the struggles a band faces in its initial stages. He moved on to play with and direct several bands including Dominicanada, Anthony V., Juan Miguel, Fantasa, Energa Latina to mention a few.In College, Alex studied music and Woodwinds (Sax, flute, trombone, trumpet, clarinet) and he opted to specialize on the Saxophone (Alto/ Tenor). He continued playing with local bands and eventually became one of the lead singers for Marron Matizado, a Salsa band led by award-winner Trumpeter Nick The Brownman Ali. Alex got a chance to sing songs by his idol, Rubn Blades, singing straight salsas like Ray Barretos "Indestructible" and blazing through the guias of Issac Delgados "Vengo Con Ire". Marrn Matizado gave him the opportunity to express and, as a result, develop his talent as a singer.Alex is currently working with Ricky Franco & The P-Crew Orchestra, where his versatility as a singer and musician is showcased by playing guitar, sax and minor percussion. He has recently launched into self-production and has composed his own Salsa Como se te Ocurre, as well as a Bachata called Pensando en ti. His arranging skills are also heard on the Bachata remake of the track Para tu amor, an original song by Grammy Award-winner, Juanes. Alex Naar is an up-and-coming Latin producer, arranger, musician and singer in Canada, leading his own company Bainaman Productions, which is based out of Toronto, Ontario.CONTACT:ALEX NAAR 647-828-3353 [email protected]
