Hippies Hate Death Metal - Put On Some Slayer!

About Me

It's hard to define a person in a couple of paragraphs. I am Steve, 31 years old, father of 2 great children, Sydney and Bret, and I have a wonderful woman - Rebecca - who is just a gem. I've been in Spokane and living with Rebecca for almost 6 years now, and I am loving it.

I grew up in Ferndale, got married, joined the Air Force, got stationed at Edwards AFB in California, had my first kid when I was 21, got divorced, worked on the disaster preparedness team at Edwards and witnessed the Space Shuttle Columbia landing twice in as many years, was honorably discharged from the Air Force, used my utilities training to do plumbing in Bellingham for a year, met Rebecca, moved to Spokane, had our first daughter, gave up the plumbing trade to go back to college, finished my 2 year degree, and began work on my bachelor's degree in government with a pre law option. In September, I am starting at Gonzaga Law school, and I hope to have my Juris Doctorate in 2011. Right now I am cramming my head full of terms like offer and acceptance, consideration, diversity jurisdiction and Res Ipsa Loquitor. Then I get to take the bar, and the real work begins, lol. That's my life story in a nutshell.

I am always willing to meet new people, drop me a line if you want to chat.

Financial crisis and the blame game

The last few days have been historic. And I don't think I am overreacting to say that the modern financial world as we know it will never be the same. I will not sit here and try to pretend that I kno...

Election time draws near

I want to get one thing straight for anyone who may possibly read this blog.  I am a government major, so I take many advanced classes on politics, and I can say with certainty that the President...

Imus

I meant to write something about the Imus thing last week, when it was still big news, and now it has been overshadowed by the tragedy in Virginia.  That notwithstanding, I still think the Imus s...

Ideology

I write a lot of blogs about politics.  Big surprise, I am a government major and I spend a large portion of my day talking about them, be it at school in my classes, or at work with veteran cowo...

An American Idol President?

My friend Matt and I were talking the other day, and he brought up this fascinating idea.  He figures since more people vote for American Idol than vote for the president of the United States, th...

What do you think of this?

Here is a news story from AOL news I saw today: SEATTLE (Feb. 5) - Anti-war activists consider 1st Lt. Ehren Watada a hero for his refusal to go to Iraq . The Army accuses him of betraying his fe...

My views on events

Since I haven't written a blog post for awhile, I figured I would take a look at some of the stuff going on in the news.   - Democratic sweep of Congress     I can't say it's a bad...

The GI Bill

A few weeks ago, I ran across an amazingly intelligent blog post by a nice fella who decided to post his thoughts on people who use the GI Bill benefits they earned to go back to college. Without gett...

Music and politics

One of my favorite new bands is a metal band called OTEP, fronted by a female lead singer who is small in size, but who has a demonic voice that would scare the pants off of most of the modern rock ba...
