April 7, 2007 was a very humbling day for me and I know for a lot of people I work with. I managed a charity event for work today with Easter Seals. Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that people living with autism and other disabilities have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play. 500 people in attendance for our 34th Annual Easter Seals Egg hunt with over 4,500 eggs. It was very successful.
How do I know it was successful? Just seeing the smiles on the kids' faces and feeling the parents' hearts smile knowing their child had an unforgettable day. A day they were able to forget their everyday challenges in life. Challenges to them are the simple things that myself and I'm sure many of you take for granted. My heart cried out and for those that were there I know you felt it too.
I truly believe God chooses special people to care for His special children. For those parents who have children faced with these challenges...I applaud you, pray for you and thank you for what you do for His children.
As I look at myself in the mirror and think of the things I complain about, I feel ashamed and heartless. Be thankful for what you have and use what He has given to you to serve His purpose for you. I know what my team did today made the families of Easter Seals' 2007 Easter memorable. It's the least I can do and trust I will do more to serve.
To all my peeps who volunteered their time...all the credit I received was because of your kindness, your time and your love. I couldn't have done it without you, thank you and love you all.
