About Me

MT Minds is not a f***ing sound, its an attitude! Steve-O (of JACKASS and Wild Boyz fame)

In 1996, MT Minds was born in Orlando when Matt(Bass/Vocals) and Justin(Guitar/Vocals) formed the band and was solidified in 1998 when Steve(Drums) joined the line-up; molding elements of Punk, Reggae, Hip- Hop, and Rock into a unique sound that dominated their local musical community for years. MT Minds combine their tightly wound riffs over sing-along melodies with dual vocal harmonies and rock solid pounding rhythms to create a sound that has the attitude of punk and metal while still resonating the beauty and grace of reggae and classic rock and encompassing the storytelling sensibilities of country and hip-hop. Through incessant touring, guerilla marketing and a serious desire to play everywhere, MT Minds developed a strong following up and down the east coast, and wanting to expand on their fan base the guys re-located to Los Angeles in the end of 2003.

During their time in Orlando, MT Minds released two EPs that sold out and are now out of print and one full-length album, EVOLUTION, on their own homegrown label Hemp-Hop Records; which sold just over 10,000 copies independently. MT Minds in March went into the studio to record 3 new songs for their next full-length release at the world famous Westlake Studios in Hollywood with Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros, Hellride, and Peter Murphy) producing and Jeff Kanan (No Doubt, Madonna, American Idol) engineering and mixing. These new tracks cap off a heavy list of accomplishments and accolades for the unsigned, independent band. After starting off blowing away crowds in Florida scene at venues like the House of Blues, Sapphire Supper Club, and Hard Rock Live; MT Minds began touring and has played from Providence, Rhode Island to South Beach, Miami to Omaha, Nebraska to Los Angeles, California and everywhere in between. Along the way, MT Minds has had the opportunity over the past 7 years to play with such acts as Eminem, Cypress Hill, NOFX, Good Charlotte, Suicidal Tendencies, Sevendust, 311, Kid Rock and a host of others from supporting sets on shows at major venues throughout the southeast, to multiple dates on Kevin Lymans Vans Warped Tour including 30 dates in 2002, starting with a kick-off show at the House of Blues in Orlando and ending with a show at the House of Blues in Hollywood with Pepper and Long Beach Shortbus (featuring members of Sublime); allowing MT Minds to play in front of thousands of people, adding to an already solid fan base and showcasing their blue-collar work ethic approach to their music. Plus, the guys hooked up with several extreme sports videos including Kevin Welshs (Senior Executive Photographer for SURFER Magazine) SurfNRG series and hosted WakeTVs All Wipe-out Video with MT Minds music featured prominently in both.

Since relocating to Los Angeles, MT Minds, besides recording with Peter DiStefano, have been playing in and around the Los Angeles area from 14 Below in Santa Monica to Club Lingerie in Hollywood and begun to build a strong fan base in the Southern California area. MT Minds is looking forward to more touring, recording their 2nd full-length, and breaking the band out show-by-show, fan-by-fan, city-by-city, and region-by-region. All of these achievements have come through the bands own hard work, perseverance, fierce DIY work ethic, desire to play music for the people, and devotion to their craft are just beginning to pay-off. Without any successful agent or outside industry support, MT Minds is doing what it has always done; work hard and let the music do the talking.
