I am here for Friends

About Me

I always had a tendency towards nympholepsy, but I think that is dissipating slowly which has to be a good thing. Nympholepsy is not to be confused with narcolepsy or nymphomania. It's a great word. Google it. Now, a joke... Two television antenna met on a roof, fell in love, and got married. The service was crap but the reception was BRILLIANT.I never thought I'd leave friendster. I really didn't. I was married to friendster. In the immortal words of Bodi about Tyler (a Point Break reference...) 'We did time together...'...music of an angsty rock variety, wandering around in a walkman daze, being hyperactive, playing football, reading, diary-writing, day-dreaming, smell of new tennis balls, sunday roast, tom yum goong soup, electric storms at sea, nightswimming (though not with electric storms at sea), constant strong winds, crashing waves, snow, sand, nights out, nights in, laughing til it hurts, not getting a song out of my head, etc., doing a tequila shot and grimacing yet knowing that I am not going to be sick. I'm a scooter-riding, red wine glugging, vodka swizzling, crazy dancing hustler. Sometimes. And sometimes I'm not at all. Actually I'm a lawyer who dreams of becoming a rockstar. Which is going to be hard as I don't play the guitar terribly well, and find it really hard to sing and play at the same time.Although I did just record an ACE cover of Runaway Train. Watch this space...Clowns kind of scare me - they always have. I hate pins and needles, but not as much as that tingling feeling I get in the soles of my feet when I feel vertiginous."I wish the world was flat like the old days / And I could travel just by folding the map..." Death Cab, New Year.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Zinedine Zidane (although I don't think he would say or do much besides smile modestly). Helena Christensen (actually I've met her but something tells me I remember it slightly more clearly than she does). Balzac . I DON'T want to meet people who don't like Lost in Translation and when asked for a reason say 'nothing happens'.

My Blog

Musings

Sitting at work waiting for a sandwich to arrive.  How glamorous.  I'm sure I had a lot of things to say.  Just idle random thoughts no doubt.  Let's see where it goes... The othe...

Hope in the form of music

So I miss my girlfriend and it's cold and miserable in London and some see you next tuesday backed into my scooter and knocked the number plate off, cracking the back panel as he did it, and I'm still...

Misunderstood

Someone just pointed out it looks like I'm, ahem, 'cracking one off' in my photograph.  If I was (which I'm not, by the way) I don't think I'd be smiling quite so gleefully for the camera.  ...

Beached Boy

31.  I'm probably not strictly a boy anymore.  I had a number of dramatic realisations when I woke up on my birthday.1.  I was about to be sick.  (achieved, proving adolescent beha...

Mad! A Gas Car!!

So I DID plan a holiday...  That might have something to do with my girlfriend being upside down down under (and insodoing being the right way up) - it just didn't seem fair for me to be trapped ...

Tom

I deleted him a long time ago.  I don't know why.  I don't have anything against him.  He seems 'nice' enough: nice smile, nicely helpful, always there with suggestions of nice things t...

Ich bin ein Berliner

I can't remember which US president spoke those words.  I think it might have been JFK.  Memorable because he meant to say 'I'm a citizen of Berlin', a nod to trans-national solidarity, and ...

Horrible jumper

The Times newspaper today... On the cover they had this photo of this 52 year old woman, a lawyer no less, who had the nicest face and looked the most lovely person, but who had jumped from a fou...

The city that never sleeps

I fear this entry may be something of a stream of consciousness. So i went to New York. And I ate a lot. And I drank even more. And I slept even less. And I walked around and took in the sights o...

Blue skies

... are all I see when I stare out of the window.  London is clear, crisp and icy icy cold today.  Scooters are cold rather than cool these days.  I appear to have missed autumn and in ...
