How to get there on the subway in NYC. This will show you the fastest route or the route that requires the least walking. Try Vesey Street to Elizabeth Street to see the difference. (Here it is: fastest is to walk from Vesey to Cortland, take the R uptown to Canal and then walk to Elizabeth, about 27 minutes. "Least walking" route is the E uptown to W. 4th Street, change to the D downtown and exit at Grand Street, walk two blocks to Elizabeth Street, about 30 minutes.
