Ben Joseph began his musical career as a teenager in Birmingham, England, listening and being taught the acoustic guitar by his dad at the age of 11.
Brought up on a blend of 1960’s American country and western, blues, and the emerging sounds of the American alternative rock scene.
It wasn’t long before the first Three Chords he had learnt, developed into full blown covers of artists such as Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.
At the age of 14 Ben had his first moments on stage in his dad’s family based country and western band, “The Henry James Country Experienceâ€, as an aspiring rhythm guitarist.
Playing in a fully functional and often demanding country band at such a young age, gave him a great opportunity to develop not only as a musician, but also in confidence. His personal artist influences were able to shine through within a live environment. Ben Joseph’s own musical influences originated from listening to working class American artists such as Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty - artists who inspired his musical drive and give some substance to Ben’s songwriting and which also introduced him to artists such as; Phil Vassar, Keith Urban and Shawn Mullins.
Ben worked his way through school and college, using his guitar playing to pursue many extra curricular opportunities allowing him to perform to new audiences of visitors to these institutions, whilst at the same time allowing time to begin writing his own lyrics.
Since Spring 2004, Ben Joseph has had the opportunity to work with close members of his family, and friends on performing some great gigs up and down the UK, also in creating three demo’s which resulted in getting radio airplay in England, frequent shows, and special event shows from Wales To Wolverhampton..
Last Summer Ben got the chance to travel to New Jersey, to work with a renowned producer on creating what hopes to be the first Ben Joseph album, starting with a great EP in the pipeline, hoping to be released sometime in May along with a full American Tour in the summer.
He is currently working on songs such as “Sarahâ€, and “Don’t listen to your heartâ€, which have become audience favourites at the shows.With the EP release set for January next year and a full Stateside Tour to follow.
