Brand New Name...Cameron James!

About Me

Cameron James has no one place to call home. Growing up in the military, home was a fleeting idea; not a place as much as a feeling; not a physical structure as much as a sense of comfort from a smile on a familiar face. Nowhere and everywhere was home. From this transitory upbringing, she learned to place value and meaning not in material things or places on a map, but in emotion, compassion, and experience.Born in Texas, she didn’t stay for long. As a child, she bounced between Turkey, Washington D.C., Hawaii, and Georgia. Cameron’s teenage years were spent living in Spain, Germany, and as far east as Turkey again. While in Europe and the Middle East, her family explored all points in between and Cameron welcomed it all. Balancing the languages, the customs, the nuances of interaction became everyday life for her and eventually, she felt the most at home in the process of moving on.Along the way, she discovered her own voice. More importantly, she discovered the desire and the will to use her gift in a more public way. In time, she began to realize that not only did she have the instrument, but she also had the well of her past experiences and relationships, her faith, and her unique gift of melody from which to create her own music. After graduating high school in Virginia, Cameron took a leap of faith and enrolled in Belmont University, a renowned music school in Nashville, Tennessee. There she was determined and focused on cultivating her writing. The music kept flowing; beautiful melodies, heartbreaking, uplifting, reflective, mood-changing melodies continued to come. While her past was so different from the norm, she focused on universal themes, those common struggles and shared emotions that unite us all. And that voice, all along so rich and strong, became singular. It was her voice. It was mysterious, smoky, soothing, and deep. In the sea of talented singers at her university, her voice stood out. While performing in competitive showcases throughout college was a validation of her talent, her true goal and ultimately, her true joy was to create her own songs on her own terms. Her recently released “Cameron James EP” is a sample of what is now and a foreshadow of what is to come from the heart and soul of this talented songstress. In her heart there are no limits to the power of music and she is setting out to prove it to the rest of us. And the melodies keep on coming…
