About Me

The Bone is located at 1415 Frederick in “Historic St. Joseph, Mo”. The building was built in the early part of 1880 and has been a tavern since then. Owned and operated by the Goetz Brewing Company of St. Joseph, Mo until the end of Prohibition. When they sold it to Leo Schott in the early 1930’s thus it becoming Schott’s Tavern. It was given to his son Henry and daughter Helen around the mid 1960’s which they operated until 1997. There are many historic and timeless stories to share as you can imagine with its 120+ years of operation, but this is not the forum for that unfortunately.
The building was purchased as is with the entire original bar and content. The renovation took over 2 years, completed in the early summer of 1999 when it became The Bone.
When the idea of The Bone first began to come together, we immediately set out to "share the love," which has become the official attitude of the bar and its employees. Each customer is treated with the utmost respect and treated as an individual and not just another customer. We want to know more than your name.
We take the time to talk to people throughout each evening and continually ask everyone for suggestions and ideas on what we can do to make The Bone as perfect as possible.
Whether it is a martini served up or dog bowls full of pretzels, 22 ounce draught beers, DJ's from New York, or the next up and coming rock band, you can bet that you will never find a place like The Bone.
We truly value each and every one of our customers and will continue to treat each of you accordingly. Thank you all so very much for making The Bone what it is today because without the patrons' support, we would be nothing.
