About Me
tRe rAPsI was first inspired by my cousin after hearing a rap he wrote. I started writing raps, listening to the B-side of cassette singles because they usually had the instrumental. I remember dialing in to 106.1's Battle of the Rappers to try and test my skills. Always got to vote, but never had the chance to battle.A few years later, I began to hone my skills, freestyling with friends, Ero (IC3) and D-Lux usually on the beat box. Other than a visit to 90.1, KZSU Stanford, most of my time was spent in street and backyard cyphers plus the occassional open mic at parties.I first began recording in 2001, using Cakewalk Sonar 1 to record out of the garage and distribute mix tapes independently. I also had my first experience in a real studio (ThroDown Studios), recording two tracks (Rewind ft. M-Squared and Buttaface). I also met with John Destacamiento of Loud Impact and recorded "Keeping You in Tempo," a single from the Evolutionary Vibes compilation. In 2003, I connected with Jay-C Geronimo, Sergio "Fireball" Koba and Kevin Donohue to form a hybrid band, dOb 22. In addition to lead vocals, I also played the set, keys and bass on occassion. dOb 22 performed regularly at 101 Lounge in Mountain View before it closed in 2006, and the band members went separate ways.In 2008, I signed with Flavoristic (Independent Label) and began recording the soon to be released album, Red Eye Flight, produced by Da Hermit (Sticky Notes) with additional tracks produced by G-Roc (ThroDown). In October 2008, I had the opportunity to perform at Motif Lounge in San Jose, CA. In November 2008, I performed at South First Billiards on Spinatiks Online Radio (www.SpinatiksRadio.com).The Red Eye Flight Album is slated to be released by February 2009. Stay tuned for more on the upcoming album release and shows.
