Meditation...Not Medication
There's a song I used to listen to as a kid, on a record my Father had, that has a line that goes "I'm a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction". I think there's a ring of truth to that statement for most everyone. Like most of us, I'm an ordinary person, with an extraordinary person inside, trying to get out. The extraordinary person is the part we try to put forward, but the ordinary person keeps getting in the way.I'm generally upbeat, positive, funny, and happy. I am also deep, thoughtful, analytical.
I try to treat everyone with respect and dignity... all creatures in fact, to the best of my ability. To me, life is a journey of change and growth. I am always seeking, learning, trying to be a better person. I try to keep an open mind. I don't believe in 'perfection' because it does not exist, nor would we want it to. True strength lies in our diversity... it is what allows us to adapt quickly to meet any challenge.I believe in what is right, good, and just. I would love to see the entire world living together in happiness, peace, and harmony. I would love to see selfishness, hatred and greed disappear from the earth. Too few have too much, and too many have too little. This is not something that should be acceptable from a species as intelligent as we are supposed to be.
We damage ourselves, our planet, and our quality of life for short-sighted gain on a daily basis. We are acting like cancer cells on this planet... growing irresponsibly, out of control... damaging and toxifying the very organs and body that gives us life.
We have the intelligence... the creativity... the spirit, and the ability, to be so much more... to be something so much better. I just saw WALLE the other night... those people on that ship... lost in mindless, motionless consumerism... unaware of each other, glued to and controlled by their electronic media... we are not so far from that as we may think.
