About Me

Ahyaro Phillips was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on Febuary 13, 1989. He was born in the St. Bernard Housing Developement, where he was raised by a single mother. His mom's name is Roslyn Phillips, he also has two brothers( Ahmad and Ahkeem Phillips) and one sister (Ashanta Phillips). He attended Medard H. Nelson Elemetary school, 1st-4th grade. He then got a scholarship to a private Catholic school called Bishop Perry Middle School, a small school with grades 5-8, and only 4 classes of 15 students. There he learned to play basketball, and found that he was a natural at the sport. He also played football and cabbageball. His first basketball coach's name was Paul Pellerain. After he graduated from BPMS, he then earned a full scholarship to Brother Martin High School, a big basketball power-house in New Orleans. There he played freshamn basketball for a year, before leaving the school. He then attended J.S. Clark High School in New Orleans, where he started on the Varsity basketball team. During his 11th grade year, Hurricane Katrina ravished the Gulf Coast of the United States. During the storm, he and his family stayed in their apartment instead of evacuating. They were then stranded for 4 days before being rescued by the coast guard, and brought under a bridge, where they would later stay for an additional 2 days. They then were transported to the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, where they would only stay for 1 day before contacting his older brother Ahkeem Phillips. His brother was stationed in Norfolk, VA due to his sevice in the United States Navy. They then relocated to Norfolk where he lived for a month and attended Granby High School. They then moved to Richmond Virginia where he now resides and attends Douglas Freeman High School. He played AAU basketball for Richmond ELite, Richmond Metro, and Team Richmond, all of Richmond's top AAU programs. Through AAU he earned alot of interest from numerous college scouts. Due to some transcript probelems due to Katrina, he now has to put his college carreer om hold and attend Fork Union Military Academy for a prep year. /a
