I am an artist and musician that makes art projects that are are all participatory. What that means is that my art peices involve setting up a station in a public setting and then handing out supplies to people passing by, and coaxing them into adding to a collaborative art peice. For example- handing sheets of cardboard to people and packing tape and inviting them to add to a gigantic fort on a busy sidewalk. Or creating a collaborative improvisational song with the audience. That is the kind of thing my group The FreeStyle Family Orchestra does. We call it Experiential Art and we believe that our art peices create public empathy and undersanding by getting everyone to be open to thinking creativly.
