R.N.B., an up and coming musician haling from San Bernardino, breaks through the normalcy of typical rap. His music is inspiring and deep. R.N.B. draws his inspiration from life and love. He writes mostly about politics, love, and abstract things that he has found within society. Some of his lyrics include lines such as, “Not a Southern rapper, it’s hard for me to spit slick. Easy for me to kick facts. I’m the seventh of the Jena Six.†He aims to put concrete and deep meaning into his lyrics and includes current events happening around the world.
R.N.B.’s major influences are Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, Kanye West, The Beatles, and Jesus. These artists had the most impact on his choice to become and aspiring musician. This is what he wants to do in life, become a musician. He already has a few other alter egos such as MF Black, and Optimus Rhyme.
He started making music in the 7th grade and the first song he wrote was titled “Dim Lights.†It was about a guy at a school dance who sees a girl and does not know what to say. R.N.B. says, “It sucked. People liked it, but I hated it.†From that point to now, he has really grown as a songwriter and musician.
His first album Senioritis contained song titles dealing with different classes in the school among other things. His latest album, A Penny For My Thoughts, captures all of R.N.B.'s creativity in a refreshing and new way. By the way, the cd is as the title suggests only .01 cent!!!
