About Me
Hi, my name is Jenn, and I'm an Artist, born and raised in Newburyport Mass. and am now living in New Hampshire. I attended Montserrat Visual Art College in Beverly Mass. and then opened up a home studio. I'm currently enrolled in a Bachelors program in Creative Expression & Literature at Granite State College.
I have been working at Crotched Mountain Residential Services for 7 1/2 years. I enjoy working with people with life challenges, as this position opens my eyes to new perspectives, and how I relate to individuals and their needs. It is very rewarding in so many ways. I enjoy bringing the arts into the program where I work, as these subjects are easily enjoyed by many.
I have also worked as an Assistant Art Teacher, and a Para Professional in a couple of public schools, as well as in the Montessori school systems.I am inspired by Kandinsky, Matisse, Miro, Chagall, Picasso, My Children, and Mother Nature.
I enjoy expressionism, and love painting, sculpture, stained glass work, and throwing clay on the wheel. I enjoy theater, and creative writing as well.A goal for my work is:To enjoy being in the state of creating more often.I find that as a child I tried to create work that looked more like an adult's. Now as an adult, I try to create work with a more innocent look & feel, more like that of a child's, this is not such an easy task, to combine the skills I know, and what I've learned and need to forget.I adore childrens' artwork, it shows such a unique form of primitive expressionism, in such a simple, innocent way. Clearly art is the foundation of motor skills and basic communication.I'm looking for online art exposure for my work and information on events and happenings going on in the Art & Music world....also here is an update on what's been going on....In the last 4 years, my friend/co-author, Janet Keefe and myself, Jennifer Cole, have been working on a musical called "The Hat" it is about Empathy, Synchronicity, Faith, Hope & Love.
We presented it to The Players Ring this Spring, and it was excepted for the 2009-2010 season. Our musical will be performed at The Players Ring on 105 Marcy St. Portsmouth NH. on August 21, 22, 23 (Late night schedule)
Featuring music from local musicians, George Brown, Cynthia Chatis, Shawn Russell, and Dennis Callahan. The main characters are humble migrant workers from Jamaica, working in a NH apple orchard during election year. In an innocent whimsical way they change the course the world is on, with the aid of a simple yet supernatural hat blessed by our Creator. This musical takes place during a presidential election year. Our intentions in writing this musical, is to help open people's eyes to the way things could be....also to cast hope for a change and a better way of life.I thank our Creator for all that I have...and for all that is and will be...View our blog page for "The Hat' at:http://spiritsistersproductions.blogspot.com/..All images are protected under copyright laws, anyone interested in using images on this site will need written permission.
