Neat

About Me

Neat are an Indie Rock band from Essex/London. Our song writing is instinctive, powerful and catchy. Our first two years have been spent building a strong set of material, and a strong local reputation with a string of high energy live shows. We have hit London and taken Liverpools Cavern Club by storm, and have secured a place on Popbang Radio in the U.S. alongside some of the biggest names in rock.
Our songs express emotion, ambition, love and anger, always delivered with belief, honesty and passion.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Rhythm Guitar/Vocals: Neil Davies
Lead Guitar/Vocals: Jimmy Blackshaw
Bass Guitar: Neil Lewin
Drums: Gary Cardno
Influences: Neil Davies: "My musical roots lie in the good ol' ROCK of the 70's with my first love being the mighty Quo. My songwriting however, is inspired by various artists, most notably Neil Finn (Crowded House), Small Faces, The Beatles, and more modern acts from the Britpop scene such as Dodgy, Ocean Colour Scene and Supergrass. Among my favourite bands are Jellyfish."
Jimmy Blackshaw: "My musical inspirations are also varied, and sitting snuggly on my CD rack, you will find soul legends such as Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder, rubbing shoulders with Oasis, Kaiser Chiefs and Snow Patrol, who, in turn, scratch backs with the likes of Extreme and Steve Vai."
Neil Lewin: "My musical inspiration is set firmly, and almost solely in ROCK. Favourite bands include Led Zeppelin, The Quo, AC/DC and Foo Fighters. My own bass guru is the late John Entwistle."
Gary Cardno: "Terry Bozzio, of Frank Zappa (and others) fame is my drum god, and as I own possibly half of the remaining world stock of vinyl my musical inspirations are wide, cultured and varied, from The Beatles, through Genesis and on to The La's, with many, many stops in between!"
Sounds Like: 'Strong & catchy material, certainly at times reminiscent of the Foo Fighters and even at times reminding me of the likes of the Buzzcocks, with hooks that can nag at you long after the record has stopped playing.'
