About Me

Tiago Inuit was born in Canada in 1976, but he grew up in Lisbon, Portugal. He studied music on and off since he was 11 years old. After studding 2 years of Architecture at Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa he decided to go study music at Concordia University in 1997 in his hometown Montreal. After graduating Tiago began to work as a composer for Cinema and television. “At The Quinte Hotel”, by Douglas Bensadoun was one of the first movies he made music for. Featuring Gordon Downie from Tragically Hip, Douglas Bensadoun tells a story of the celebrated poem “At the Quinte Hotel” from1968 by the Canadian poet Al Purdy. The Mallory Effect and Hatley High, are other feature movies Tiago scored music for. In 2001 he started working with Alexandre Desilets and slowly Funami was born. To compose and record a CD made with the human voice was the objective. Toguether with Jason Breckenridge, Alex and Tiago spend 3 years producing a CD that is now being considered one of the best portuguese releases of 2005. Of the 10 songs that Funami gave birth to, Happy Dog was the first single that came out from this portuguese release by the label Transformadores. Happy Dog as well as other compositions of Tiago Inuit was included in the TV documentary Cirque du Soleil Fire Within. This series of 13 episodes documents the intense preparation of the show Varekai. In 2002 Tiago returns to Lisbon and starts to teach music for cinema at IAT – Universidade Moderna and “Music and Technology” at Escola Luis Villas Boas – Hot Clube de Portugal. Months later he opens a music studio with his two friend musicians José Avelino and Pedro Alves Fernandes. Sinal26 first open with three practice rooms and one year later Tiago was producing the first CD "What Is" from the Portuguese band Olga released by Borland 2005. Together with his two partners he composed jingles for publicity, music for Dance, Theater, Fashion shows and recorded many bands and artists. Sinal26 also does sound production for radio and TV shows and other sound related services. After releasing the Funami CD in Portugal 2005, Tiago Inuit returns to Canada to prepare the new Funami show that will be touring this year.
