It’s cliché among many filmmakers, but Wade’s parents actually bought him a video camera at 15. Growing up on a chicken farm in Arkansas provided the necessary boredom needed to pick it up and hit record. He entertained himself by shooting home videos of friends and area livestock. As an economics major at the University of Arkansas, his filmmaking skills were evident from the footage taken of his alcoholic fraternity brothers. Wade’s amateur filmmaking career came to a halt when his sister Jill was in a crunch for money and secretly hocked the video camera. That pissed him off.Watching his dad buy chicken feed gave Wade the inspiration to become a commodities trader on Wall Street. A volatile market, a few SEC violations, disbarment from the securities industry… Wade found himself in Hollywood, California. After a few acting classes, disasterous movie auditions and years of impoverishment, Wade came to a realization that film school might be in order.He enrolled into L.A. City College’s program for cinema studies. It wasn’t long before he was directing and editing music videos for un-signed bands. Soon after, Wade began writing, directing and editing short narrative films. His short film titled “Momentary Lapse of Reason,” shot on 16mm, was an official selection of the Freedom Film Fest at Park City, UT, during Sundance in January of 2004. Another directorial piece, the short comedy “The Girl Writer,” was an official selection of the Los Angeles Short Film Festival in September of 2005.Wade’s employers in Hollywood have ranged from Jerry Bruckheimer to MTV; his jobs from development assistant to second unit camera.All of the foregoing culminated in Wade’s need to write, and eventually make, “The Gospel According to Dave.” Teaming up with Michael McCarthy, former staff writer of shows like Saturday Night Live and Everyone Loves Raymond, Wade has written a story that brings to light some of the absurdities of living in this crazy town, proving that it’s all right to chase a dream, no matter the cost.
