Artist/EmCee living in Oxford. Dugout resident, I've been EmCeeing and DJing for about 19 years (oh man...time flies). I first started rhyming back with Shar and Rola (Numskullz) and we were called Def Defiance, and we were little whipper snappers. We became part of the SouthSide Alliance with writers (Scarse, KILO!, Cue) amongst others, and had a dance troop (E-Raze, PYT, Ritchski) and loads of headz. They were mad dayz....the Dance Raw shows became legendary- with the likes of Blade (Good times mate), Caveman, Demon Boyz and MC Duke....yeah, nostalgia is a wonderful thing.....We released a self-funded LP on Cassette (old school, man!) and sold out within a week....these are still being exchanged and are about tenth generation by now I guess- haha. I went to study architecture in London, while Rola formed 'Numskullz' with Rumage and Jay Le Surgeon.
I continued rhyming in the background, and in 2001 hooked up with Specifik and put out 4 records and featured on several others with the Numskullz. Also recently featured on the charity 12" 'Self Construction' with Numskullz, Aspects and Wordsworth Surgery.
I deeply believe hip hop music is about social commentary- and lyrics are very important to me. If you don't get them, so what. If you do, they're made for your ears.
Have just started working on a project called 'THE PROJECTIONS' which is an album featuring some of the hottest production talent, from established producers like Rola, ASM and Ill Boogs to up and coming young guns like Jake Shears and Indecision. Again, this is gonna be self-funded. It's all about self-construction, right?
I teach EmCee workshops as part of the SIN-Cru community, check out the webpage. we are envolved in all the elements of hip hop.
I'm also working on research within the field of Hip Hop and Architecture, and I teach architecture at University level. I am constantly striving to find links between hip hop and architecture. Mail me if you'd like to know more on this....
