I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

I've been in the DC area for since 2001 and still love it. I've got a good set of friends and get to work with lots of great people.
After six years in the media relations/communications shop of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office, I'm now working "on the hill" as a Communications Director for a great member of Congress.I live in Silver Spring, MD, right across the border, where I get some kick-ass congressional representation, but spend most of my free time in DC.I like going to the movies, bars/clubs, protests/rallies, restaurants and museums. I love food (in all its forms) - cooking at home, going out to eat and watching it being cooked. I'll eat pretty much anything, and am always interested in trying new dishes, though the staples are always good. Love burgers and sushi, though not at the same time. I like whiskey, wine and beer. Ironically, my favorite beer is Kilkenny's (bottled by Guiness - if you know where I can get it in the DC area, please let me know), but I only have it when I am in Tokyo. Boddingtons is a close second.I'm an activist at heart, and continue to go to some of the rallies and protests in the area. I'm involved with a few local organizations and try to stay on top of the issues. I try to read the NYT, Washington Post, CQ, and other media sources on a daily basis. At the office, when Congress is in session, I've got CSPAN or CNN on non-stop - when they're out, I'm listening to some rock-pop and dance music. Not a gym rat, but try to go as often as I can. I love the summer softball season in DC, and all the fun times it brings.I'm pretty laid back, some call me a workaholic, and would love someday to afford to be a shopaholic. I like going to the usual places in DC, but am always willing to try someplace new!I love being an uncle, and going up to spend time with my niece in NYC. She's the cutest kid ever! And for the record, yes, I am a card carrying member of the ACLU.You can read some of my political thoughts at: http://middleclassfightsback.blogspot.com"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof, and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear - one, of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of un-reason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men; Not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were - for the moment - unpopular."
- Edward R. Murrow, 1954.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

It's hard to put it into words, cause so much of it is "about the person." But, generally, I like people who have the following traits: Honesty, a good sense of humour, intelligence, social/political awareness and good communication skills.I love people who are passionate about something, though it's more fun when it's about social justice or progressive politics. But someone who cares about *something is always good.Someone who likes to go out, but doesn't HAVE to go out -- they can enjoy the comfortable evening at home. Someone who can be serious, but knows also how to kick back and just enjoy life. Someone who's not afraid to cuddle and hold hands. Someone who feel as comfortable watching a thought provoking documentary as they are watching re-runs of West Wing or the latest hit movie. Someone who's open-minded and has a good head on their shoulders... would also be great if that said someone were single and gay too!!!
