About Me

I originally started this profile to give reviews of bars, hence the name detroitbarcrawler. It got to seem lame after a while, and my reviews were pretty lame, so I've been focusing on events and buildings, which I find to be more rewarding. In the blog section I'll be posting about the wierd, funny, and depressing things I see around town. Often the things I see remind me what I've seen in other states, where their economic base disappeared decades ago, and they've had slow painful declines ever since. Everyone's kids move out of state when they grow up, and here and there you see the remnants of small ghost towns. Is Michigan headed in that direction?

More rail road stuff

Rail roads and the Packard junk yard.

I'm not sure why abandonned rail bridges interest me.Along this stretch of rail, only about half of the former lines have been abandonned. Some bridges have been overcome with plant life.An obsolete li...
