Guitarist.Singer.Songwriter.ProducerShelton Garner Jr. grew up in Brooklyn, NYC. His love affair with music was developed at a young age. His father is a lover of music and Shelton began playing the alto saxophone and drums in elementary and junior high school. It was during his high school years that he was given a guitar for the first time and the rest is history.Shelton is known on the underground NYC music scene as "the hardest working guitar player" in the business. Artists that he frequently plays for are on the path of John Legend and Goapele. If you ever been to a live music performance in NYC then you probably have seen Shelton Garner play. Some of the artists he has played for are : Abby Dobson, Planet Ubiquity, Manchildblack, Jeremy James, Russell Taylor, Alia Marie... He has opened for Musiq Soulchild, Mary J Blige, Tweet, The Roots, Kindred, Floetry, Dwele, Leela James and Burning Spear among others. His repertoire is diverse, there is no genre of music he has not played, he has even played country at a hoe-down for a fundraiser at Midtown West Elementary School. From brazillian house produced and performed with Manchildblack, jazz with Khalil Kwame Bell, reggae with Taj Weeks & Adowa, live hip-hop with The Planet Ubiquity or R&B with Abby Dobson, Shelton is the man artists go to to get the job done right with a quiet professionalism and approach to excellence that is unparalleled.Shelton is a well known staple on the New York music scene. You can often find him playing at Joe's Pub, SOB's, The Blue Note, The Supper Club, The Chocolate Bar (BK) and other venues.Many people do not know Shelton as a guitar player but as a percussionist from Harlem School of the Arts. Shelton played percussion for various dance classes and performances over the past twelve years. As more and more people have the pleasure of discovering he is also an amazing vocalist with a range that is suprising. He has performed solo at The Blue Note, Sputnik, Akwabaa, Kili and at Swapmeet Live @ The Chocolate Bar in Brooklyn.Shelton and Manchildblack have an EP titled "Awake in a Dream" which includes the single "Rain" soon to be released on West End Blue Records. This EP marks Shelton's first release as a producer. Soon to follow will be an EP by the live Hip-Hop band Planet Ubiquity.
