In the year 2003, Valsgarde was formed by brothers Shaun (drums) and Corey Smith (guitars), Derek Hicks (guitars) and Brian Ward (vocals) in Mesquite, Texas. After many hours of rehearsal new material was put to recording and a rough demo was made, though due to the extremely rough nature of this recording very few were circulated. Soon after the band begins playing live shows, morale is high in the Valsgarde camp. During this time, Valsgarde opens up for national acts including: God Dethroned, The Absence, Vader and Finntroll. In late 2007, internal gears shift, and the band line up changes- J. Coleman (Dagon/RPB) takes the role of guitar along side of Corey.
2008
Shaun Smith steps down from drums and takes up the role of Bass/Vocals; sub sequentially David Sikora (of Obsidian Throne) takes place as the new drummer. After much time spent rehearsing new material and performing live, Valsgarde is ready to march into battle, the band will be recording a new demo in late May with Lord T6 at T6 studios..
