Our story begins where the main character, who feels more like an extra, can’t help but see the credits roll to his short film of romance. There was a girl, or an idea of a girl, who became our main extra’s damsel. Her eyes were the color of honesty and her voice spoke with the tone of an autumn breeze. One lovely winter day, his thoughts began to play like children, pulling on his heart to believe that he could be in a “once upon a time.†Little did he know his thoughts could be so cruel.
He stepped outside his fairy-tail with a blink and noticed her silhouette. His eyes were dancing with every one of her steps while she conducted his hearts symphony to play louder as she moved closer. Without any warning, except for one “hello,†she whispered silence between the snowflakes and walked carelessly away.
Underneath the brown in his eyes now rested a gray undertone of her photograph in his memories frame. Locked inside the room of his ideas, he tried fiercely, but not too bravely, to fight off the emotions that tried so hard to strangle his soul. Loneliness seemed to cut at his wrists bleeding out the little bit of love left in his heart. Just before the last drop of magic left his dreams, he noticed a humble, worn pen, with a curious smile. He couldn’t help but to smile, with the same curiosity, back at his new acquaintance.
From the moment he picked up that welcoming pen, ocean waves of emotions began to crash with angst onto the well listening pages of paper. Every night he began inhaling the past and breathing out the hopelessness trapped inside his chest. Even his guitar began to orchestrate soundtracks for the words he could only say when they played together. One evening, after a long talk with the sunset, he began to feel a strange, yet familiar embrace of something that had become so numb. He felt the touch of hope. As faith continued to capture his attention, his heart realized it had found a true love that conducted very differently from his first love. He had fallen for purpose.
Purpose was very beautiful and charming to follow. With her, there could be a “twice upon a time.†As she continued at his side, he felt more like the main character while the shadow of an extra embarrassedly left his steps. He would share with anyone who is on the side of truth, that there is hope within all hopelessness. In the end, a silent “goodbye†began destiny’s warm hello.
