A little bit about me: I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t sit in one place too long without getting bored. With that said, I can’t really tell you or myself what I really want to do when I grow up. I started off pursuing a career in Aviation. I got my pilot’s license in high school and was set on course to be an airline pilot. I woke up one morning and decided that flying planes was not really what I wanted to do the rest of my life so I switched majors and went into….interior design. Wow, what a change in career paths! After 4 more years of school and 2 years working in the design industry I decided that I wasn’t cut out for that job either. I decided that the IT field might have something for me. Well, so far so good on that.
Oh yeah, during my 8 years of college I also pursued my dream of being a radio and nightclub DJ. I got my start as a college radio DJ at Louisiana Tech's KLPI - circa 1991. I was heavy into the Acid House / Manchester sound from England in the late 80s early 90s and my radio shows were heavily influenced by bands like New Order, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, Jesus Jones, The Farm, and The Smiths. I made a special trip to Manchester, England just so I could see the place where it all started. While there I stopped by the legendary Hacienda nightclub which set the stage for me to be a nightclub DJ. That same year I bought my first set of turntables and taught myself how to mix. I made several trips back to Dallas to go to the clubs and hang out by the DJ booths to learn the techniques. Soon after that I landed my first club residencies once my radio show started gaining popularity. In 1994 I left Louisiana to come back to my hometown Dallas. During that summer break I had a brief career with Carnival Cruise lines as a club DJ on 2 of their ships which was not my favorite gig. After that I worked as a light tech at Village Station in Dallas which is where I met my husband Mikey who was the DJ on the legendary Wednesday nights. I later took over the night at Village Station after Mikey retired and went on to play there up until the remodel. I also played several nights at JRs which included Alternative Mondays. As I said earlier, I can’t sit still for too long and after 11 combined years working at Village Station, Station 4, JRs and Sue Ellen’s it was time for me to move on. My new gig is Thursday nights at Mickey's on Cedar Springs Rd in Oaklawn. Come check it out, have a shot of Tuaca, and get your groove on!!

My Interests

Making Mikey mad, going camping in our ghetto fabulous pop-up camper, Off-roading, sailing in the Caribbean, pretending to be a superstar DJ, working on my house and making it look pretty, drinking lots of Tuaca, and of course playing with my 6 kids - Xochitl, Konichiwawa, Prosciutto, Zero, Utensil, and Spook

Music:

I don’t know how to describe my taste in music. I grew up during the 80s and loved all of the new wave and college alternative bands. My favorite bands back then were of course New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, & R.E.M. In the late eighties I started moving towards the electronic sounds of the New Beat era and then moved into the Acid House/Rave sound coming out of England and especially Manchester. My favorite bands during that time were the Charlatans UK, Primal Scream, 808 State, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Orb, The Shamen, William Orbit, Sunscream, FSOL, Moby, Opus III, The Farm, and more New Order – pretty much anything coming out of England during that time. . My DJ style is hard to describe as well. I started out playing hard Techno in the early 90s then moved to Breaks in the mid 90s, Trance in the late 90s, Progressive House/Tribal in 2000s, and finally now I’m into Electro House mixed with a little Techno, Breaks, Prog House, Tribal, and some mainstream. The DJs that have inspired me the most are all local ones – DJ Zuul (my partner/lover/BF/whatever you want to call us), Rob Vaughan, and DJ Red Eye. Without watching, learning, and listening to them spin, I would have never gotten to where I am today as a DJ. My Favorite current electronic artists would have to be Eric Prydz, Deadmau5, Peace Division, Tony Thomas, Patrick Turner, Alan Barratt, Adam Freeland, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Tom Stephan, Chus & Ceballos, Thievery Corporation, Shawn Lee, Thunderball, Tosca, Smadj, Chris Joss, Phutureprimitive, Ursula 1000, Federico Aubele, Nicola Conte, William Orbit, Fort Knox Five, Gotan Project, and many more.
