About Me

Gwenog Jones!
Hi, I'm Qwenog, usualy known as Qwen, I have brown long hair and brown eyes. And I'm 37 years old. Anyway the most important thing about me is that I'm the captain and beater of the Holyhead Harpies. Quidditch is my life, I couldn't live without it. Some of you out there, most probably muggles, are thinking what on earth is Quidditch. Well it's a bit like football but played in the air on broomsticks.(Mine's a Firebolt!) There are seven players on each side. Three of them are called chasers. One of them is a keeper, and one of them is a seeker. Finally there are two beaters, one of which I am. There are two hoops at either end of the pitch and 4 balls. The quaffle is passed back and fourth between the three chasers until one of them scores by throwing it threw one of the hoops, ten points every time the quaffle goes through one of the hoops. The keepers job is to try and stop the opposing team from scoring by gaurding the three hoops. The golden snitch is most probably the most important ball out of all of them. It's very hard to catch as it's so fast and difficult to see. It's the seekers job to catch it, before the other teams seeker does. The snitch ends the game and earns that team an extra 150 points. Finally the bludgers, they zoom around trying to knock the players off there brooms, and it's my job to stop that from happening, by hitting them away with a beater(or bat.) Sounds very complicated doesn't it. Well that's it. Begginers usually find Quidditch hard. But I was a natural from the start. Anyway enough about Quidditch. I was in Gryffindor at Hogwarts. Yes I went to Hogwarts, and many of my fellow Quidditch freinds too. My favourite subject was ofcourse Quidditch practice, but if I was to choose one of my every day lessons it would have to of been Transfiguration. Brilliant teacher we had in my time. I remember when I had to turn our pets into goblets, boy it was hard. But not any more. WOOOOSH!!!!!!!, oops wrong spell..........

My Interests

QUIDDITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quidditch, "the sport of warlocks," is the premier sport of the wizarding world. Everyone follows Quidditch. Quidditch is a fast, dangerous, exciting game in which two teams flying on broomsticks compete for points scored by throwing a ball--the Quaffle--through hoops on either end of a large grassy pitch. Quidditch is played by kids on broomsticks in the back apple orchard, by teams of students at Hogwarts, and by professional athletes whose exploits are followed avidly all over the world. The World Cup matches attract hundreds of thousands of fans.

Quidditch falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Games and Sports, part of the Ministry of Magic. The professional organization is called the International Association of Quidditch. Professional matches are attended by trained mediwizards and while there are many injuries, there are few deaths from Quidditch accidents. However, referees have been known to disappear completely only to turn up weeks later in the middle of the Sahara Desert. There are seven hundred possible ways to commit a foul in Quidditch, all of which occurred in a World Cup match held in 1473.

The name "Quidditch" comes from Queerditch Marsh, the place where the game originated in the 1000s. The colorful, exciting history of this thousand-year-old sport is detailed in the excellent book, Quidditch Through The Ages, now available in a Muggle edition. Please buy yourself a copy soon -- the proceeds go to a very worthy cause indeed.

The only all witches Quidditch team in the world!
