Purchase Supraluxe music
Nothing says "I Love You" like the gift of Supraluxe. Fact.
Supraluxe is a Minneapolis trio. Members Jim Risser, Bob Burns and Rich Pearson created the debut CD "Supraluxe" in the humble confines of a home studio in St. Paul. By wrapping themes of loss, anxiety, alienation and love in the gloss of shiny summerpop, Supraluxe has created an exuberantly melancholy work.
Supraluxe was borne out of a number of musicians lifelong commitment to musical exploration. For three of these musicians, a weekly standing jam session called Rock Club that included a rotating cast of up to 12 musicians and a range of instrumentations, quickly evolved into a project with both shape and form. Jim , Bob and Rich moved out of the practice space and into the studio to capture their work and formalize song structure.
Soon the trio called Supraluxe acknowledged a shared interest in creating music that recognized deep and diverse musical passions while offering something new to the American musical landscape. Incorporating digital recording technology with classic rock guitars and orchestral arrangements, their CD recalls influences as diverse as Elliott Smith, early Todd Rundgren and David Bowie.
The Album "Supraluxe" by Supraluxe contains 11 songs, and was officially released 1/1/2006. Engineered and produced by Bob Burns with mastering by Dave Wesley (www.sursumcorda.com), the CD also features guest musician Jeff Budin.
Reviews:
"Here's another early favorite for my best of 2006 list:Supraluxe-S/Thttp://www.cdbaby.com/cd/supraluxeThey're a band out of Minneapolis-St. Paul who fit somewhere between the Pernice Brothers, Elliott Smith and Teenage Fanclub.Very good stuff. I sense the possibility of this one being "Very Highly Recommended" when and if Bruce at Not Lame gets his hands on it.Steve F"

The music of indie rock/power pop trio Supraluxe bounces with layered melodies and interlocking cohesiveness. Lead vocalist Jim Risser's soft and smooth delivery sounds far more innocent than his darkly tinged lyrics suggest. Like the sugar pop coating on top of frank bleakness on an Eels record, Supraluxe packages feelings of emptiness, anxiety and isolation with lush, danceable indie pop songs, complete with handclaps galore. It's stuff that makes you smile and tap your toes while you scratch your head.Starting as a weekly jam session called Rock Club, which included a rotating cast of musicians, Supraluxe evolved out of these sessions into the core trio of Jim Risser (guitars, vocals), Bob Burns (keyboards, programming, vocals) and Rich Pearson (bass, vocals, additional guitars). Burns, a veteran of local heroes the Flamin' Ohs, also produced, engineered and mixed the album; he makes his pop sensible presence felt on songs like "Oleander" and "Chemical Fun."Deftly straddling the line between slick pop and garage rock, Supraluxe sounds like a slightly more hopeful Elliot Smith fronting a band somewhere between the Love Cars and Semisonic. Unfailingly easy on the ears, Supraluxe has come out of the gate with a gem of an indie pop record. CMJ
