About Me

My name is Amanda. I'll be twenty-one soon, and this seems very old. Not because I'll feel like I'm growing up too fast, but because if I'm soon-to-be twenty-one then that means my little sisters are soon-to-be seventeen and fifteen...both of which are much too old for little sisters to be.
I go to IU Northwest and intern at a locally-based magazine that I was supposed to return to in the fall, but I just found out they're folding, which is a bummer; I'll have to find myself a new internship (that probably won't be paid).
I work at Blockbuster and watch lots of movies.
I don't like people who lie. Admit you screwed up. It's okay. Or call it a change of heart.
I tend to take people much more seriously when they use proper grammar/spelling and think before they speak. (By the way, there's a difference between "your" and "you're," and you probably learned it in the second grade.)
I don't drink or party like all the other cool college kids. It's not my scene.
My curiosity is almost as intense as my tendency to procrastinate. I can be obsessive compulsive at times.
I want to see as much of the world as I can before I no longer have the luxury of doing so as I please.
Anyone who has the gall to take advantage of a truly lovely human being that loves him with all her heart by cheating on her with a gross, likely-STD-infested tramp deserves to have his manhood ferociously ripped away (think Planet Terror).

My Interests

Music.

Writing.

Frappuccinos from Family Express.

Simultaneously thinking and not thinking about the future.

Cutting back on fast food. If only it wasn't so...fast and easy...

I'd like to meet:

The one responsible for my existence. Someone who can hold my attention. Someone who will make me want to be a better person. And this guy:

Music:

AFI, Billy Talent, Saves the Day, Saosin, Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Bayside, The Who, The Dresden Dolls, pre-Green Weezer, Something Corporate, Chiodos, Tiger Army, Envy on the Coast, Queen, and a lot more ... mostly emo trash you can slit your wrists to.

Movies:

Beetlejuice, Little Monsters, Grindhouse, The Hot Chick, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, Mulan, The Count of Monte Cristo, SLC Punk, Napoleon Dynamite, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tremors, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Truman Show, Pulp Fiction, American History X, Crash, Star Wars, Edward Scissorhands, The Lion King, The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Little Miss Sunshine, Titanic; pretty much anything by Tim Burton or Quentin Tarantino, any chick flick, and any Disney animated film.

Television:

Nip/Tuck, American Idol, Heroes

Books:

Anything I have (or can make) time for. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, best book in the series. I also just finished an incredible book called Our Guys for a sociology course.

Heroes:

Parents, of course; my friends, who are few in numbers but massive in loyalty; people who question the status quo and aren't content just being what everyone else expects them to be

Chapter 3: Ritchie McCormack is my homeboy.

Day 2, May 18th, Dublin I have to mention Lindsey's paper.  When Lindsey arrived in Dublin she had yet to complete a Spanish literary comparison essay, and I guess you could say she was freaking ...

Chapter 2: So I'm kinda glad I've never seen the movie Hostel.

Day 1, May 17th, Dublin I landed in Dublin at approximately 8:30 a.m. with slightly over two hours to keep myself occupied before Lindsey's arrival.  After retrieving my luggage I searched (to n...

Chapter 1: And the journey begins with the crossing of the Pond (aka the Atlantic).

Day 0, May 16th, Chicago to Dublin Lindsey and I have experienced a lot of "firsts" together.  I met my first best friend on the first day of first grade on my first morning bus ride, and the fir...

You say, "It's a good thing that you float in the air..."

I am sure you are familiar with how terribly great it feels to crawl into bed, knowing you have absolutely nothing for which to wake up the following morning. As I peeled back the covers and...

I don't know which of a million ways to go.

I wrote a blog in psychology class the other day and IUN's lovely wireless Internet decided to disconnect while I was in the process of posting it. Something about psychology just doesn't mesh well wi...

Sorry, I don't know any Mad Marge lyrics yet.

So there I was, about to call it quits for the night, when I see my newest issue of AP laying on the floor next to my bed; I just received it today and had already forgotten about it.  ...

If you lie you don't deserve to have friends.

If this applies to you then you're a dick: Everyone's a let down; It just depends on how far down they can go. In every circle of friends there's a whore; The one who flirts And does a little more. Bu...

Murder, oh murder, oh where have you been?

I am bored, but not tired...at least not as tired as I normally feel.  I've been working on a resume for an internship position at Sweet 16 in Chesterton.  It's a magazine for teen girls.&n...

Will the flood behind me put out the fire inside me...?

I'd like to consider myself an intelligent person, but sometimes I can't figure things out, and it makes me mad. I know it shouldn't, because some people are NOT smart, and I shouldn't let the stupid ...

It's only teenage wasteland.

I bought my dad tickets to see his favorite band for his birthday, and I must say I've become rather attached. Turns out I know a lot of Who songs. That's what happens when you spend hours upon hours ...
