COUNTRY FRIED

About Me

New Orleans’ Country Fried brings a new outlook to an old genre, helping to revive acoustic outlaw country. Telling stories through original songs that speak of the lows and highs that life brings, Country Fried returns to the roots of country music to create an original sound. The band has hit the stages of the French Quarter Fest, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, Great Mississippi River Balloon Races, House of Blues and Tipitina’s. Country Fried has played shows with Junior Brown, Shooter Jennings, Jeff and Vida Band, Delbert McClinton, and Amanda Shaw, among others. The live sounds of Country Fried have been heard in Texas, Colorado, and throughout the Southeast United States. The band began as a side project for the trio of Todd “Whisky T” McNulty, Taylor “Red Stick” Garrett, and Brian “Big Country” Ayres. The three got together, exhausted of the trail country music had taken, and began paying tribute to roots music greats. After playing covers of country music legends such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Hank Williams, Sr. the boys quickly “country fried” some of their rock originals and began writing music in this vain. With Big Country on vocals, harmonica, percussion and a bita’ banjo, Red Stick on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Whisky T on lead guitar and vocals, the trio’s sound developed. Bassist, Joel “Rocky Mountainhigh” Webb joined the band in ’06 during the recording of “Saint of New Orleans.” The quartet also appears with drums and other special guests.MySpace layout created at Hypergurl.
