The Manatawny Creek Ramblers began in the hills of Berks County Pennsylvania in 2004 as a traditional bluegrass band, a roots project of bandleader Daniel Bower(guitar/vocals). AKA, ‘Skrappy,’ Bower brought together 3 other like-minded pickers to form
The Manatawny Creek Ramblers.
Michael Beaky (banjo/vocals) and Kris Kehr (mandolin/vocals) used to perform together as part of the band Pavlov’s Dawgs which won the 1991 NYC Bluegrass Band Competition. Kehr since formed Stone Poets and toured with The Recipe. Rounding out the 4-piece is bassist Josh Sceurman, a bandmate of Skrappy’s in Berks alt-country darlings Frog Holler. Since 2004 the band has built a mixed repertoire of classic bluegrass tunes by the likes of Bill Monroe, Don Reno, The Stanley Brothers, Del McCoury and Flatt & Scruggs as well as an array of original material. During that time The Manatawny Creek Ramblers have collected an enthusiastic group of followers by working steadily, performing at countless local festivals, private functions and music venues throughout Pennsylvania and beyond.
