I’ve DJed on KALX 90.7 FM in Berkeley since 1997! I still do my show weekly Saturdays 3-5:30p PST! I’ve been spinning at clubs since 1999. In the past few years my ‘musical vision’ has crystallized into wanting to present the spectrum of dance music - disco, house, funk, jazz, boogie - in particular preserving & paying respect to the vibe of The Loft and Paradise Garage, with inspiration from legendary Chicago DJ & producer Derrick Carter’s style & Larry Levan's (and similar DJs of his era) way of "speaking to the dancer" through music & lights.
In 2005, I was chosen as the New Times (SF Weekly/East Bay Express) “DJ Breakthrough†and was flown to play at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami during the Winter Music Conference. On October 18, 2006, I was awarded the the title of the SF Weekly’s 2006 Music Awards “Best DJâ€.
In the Bay Area, I’ve played at Kingman’s Lucky Lounge, The Ruby Room, Radio, Bar Kitty’s, The White Horse, and The Ivy Room in the East Bay. In San Francisco, I’ve played at Pink, Dalva (at Toph One’s legendary “Red Wine Socialâ€), Lime, Otis, Arrow, Club Six, The MakeOut Room, Cherry/Annie’s Social Club, Vertigo, Fluid, Bambuddha Lounge, Mighty, Elbo Room, Mars Bar, Little Baobab, The Transfer (including the Tuesday Chilidog! party), Butter, Poleng Lounge, 222 Hyde, Koko Cocktails, Nihon, Madrone Lounge, The Cinch, El Rincon, and held residencies for almost a year each at Maroc in the lower Haight, Bar Kitty’s in Emeryville and at EZ5 in the Financial/Chinatown area.
Currently, I play every Friday at the KiNkY BeAtS party at Cafe Flore in the Castro, I have my weekly KALX show, and am a proud member of the much-loved Go BANG! monthly 4th Saturdays at DECO SF!
