About Me

If you're looking for a reference point for Dopamine's style, the worst thing you can do is listen to their previous recording. A stylish, poppy hard rock effort with tricky timing and complexity, the band has left that starting point in the dust and isn't looking back. "It's angry driving music", lead singer/guitarist Dre exclaims enthusiastically about their latest release (Complicated Music for Idiots). That description is fairly on the mark, although his exceptional range and clean delivery tend to make the songs a bit more accesible to those uninitiated with Ottawa's rougher rock side. "All of our old grunge influences are coming out and we're having a lot of fun with it." Taking cues from such throwbacks as Soundgarden, Tool and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers while melding the late 90's grunge sound into a hybrid with a stoner rock (Melvins meets Kyuss) sound. The trio's road has led them to a sound 10 years in the making. "We're primarily a live band, and we finally have the gear to really showcase that. We're a bass heavy band so if the audience gets up front and feels that, we know we've got them hooked.
