Between The Wheels

About Me

Both videos below are from our gig at the Village Pub South on 9/9/06. This is one of the instrumental sections from our upcoming epic, "A Higher Mind." The recorded version of this song plus two others are on their way and will be posted as soon as they are done.
This is "Clockwork," taken from the bridge to the end of the song.
Between the Wheels have the same three guys (Bill, Steve, and Adam) since they formed in the 10th grade at Hicksville High School, back in 2000. After learning the bass Steve met up with Adam, who played drums most of his life. Bill had been friends with Adam for a few years prior, and immediately completed the group, providing the vocals and guitars. Their unique combination of influences formed their exclusive style, including classic progressive, modern progressive, metal, punk, and just straight-forward rock-and-roll.
After their first year of playing, they started doing local shows under the name Born Yesterday. The band's originals sounded very influenced by bands such as Green Day, Rancid, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. People went nuts for the punky musical hooks and wild energy present at every show, and the band's popularity grew rapidly. However, after another year of playing, the guys felt they needed to mature musically.
Thus they wrote a new set of songs under the name Tempyst, recruiting guitarist Matt Meyers. The band started to become more influenced by metal, both domestic and European. Groups such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy and Helloween started to become regulars on the stereo for every member. After some two years of writing music and playing some great gigs, Matt left with great intentions for the rest of the band. Soon this new band became the original trio again.
Bill, Adam, and Steve had a lot to work with at this point. There had been four years of music written, with practically nothing officially released to the public. It was at this point that the band became heavily influenced and inspired by various progressive legends. Most notably, Dream Theater, Rush, and Pink Floyd became major prog heroes to the three of them. They promptly became Between The Wheels and set to work. After 18 months of writing and rehearsing consistently, they now have a catalogue comprised of new songs and old "classics", utilizing the progressive influences they had attained over the years. They are Between The Wheels, and they are hungry to show their music to the world!!
