About Me

Performance description by David DeYoung, CEO & Founder, www.howwastheshow.com “The Doc's Kids' show at Betsy's Back Porch was one part stand up (or in some cases fall down) comedy and one part an exhibition of music from their CD's. One attendee at last night's Doc's Kids show complained after the show that her face hurt from all the smiling and laughter. Songs included a medley of the Smith's "Panic" melded with Suzanne Vega's "Luka." The show also featured numerous outfit changes by BPZMAG who was wearing a troubadour outfit, a flower print dress, and ultimately a white t-shirt bearing the words "Bob Barker's Beauties" (a reference to their "tribute" song to all things Barker "The Price is Right.") Normally I don't take a camera to gigs, but boy, do I regret that now. This show, that featured J. BELL climbing on the tables to play guitar solos, and BPZMAG walking through the audience with the microphone, singing "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get" by Morrissey, while leaning on the coffee counter, was oftentimes a parody of mainstream rock shows and was just crying out for multimedia documentation. I've become one of the main spokespeople for these guys, and I stand by my words! I'm disappointed that the press has not generated a wider audience…yet. Don't let the coffee house gigs fool ya folks. These are great, crazy and fun shows. See you at one soon!”
