About Me

I recently got back from five weeks of traveling the world. I'd never been, so I took a fabulous trip to Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland and France. NZ is awesome and everyone should go there if they ever get the chance. The same is true of the Great Barrier Reef. I found Nemo there. Incredible stuff. Now I'm trying to avoid rejoining the real world by not thinking about the fact that I don't have a job. I'm not irresponsible, on the contrary, I just want to be certain about where I want to go from here.I love furniture design and am hoping to start working in commercial interior design. I love lots of other things too though, cooking, reading, music, all that stuff.

My Interests

Furniture, design, building, reading, cooking, camping, baking, TV, movies, music, good people, laughing and just having fun. I'm intrigued by people and like to just sit and watch from a coffee shop or a bench downtown. I'm also a sports fan, bleeding Dodger blue since I was about 5. I find that I like most things once I try them.

I'd like to meet:

I'd love to hear from any old school friends and I'd like to hear from anyone who wants to get to know me. My life is usually quiet and boring, I'm trying to change that. I guess I'd like to meet people like me, hardworking and mature but willing to be goofy and silly whenever possible. Sometimes we all get too serious about ourselves.

Music:

Just about everything. Good classic stuff like Fleetwood Mac and CCR. Soft stuff like Natalie Merchant and India Arie. Blues like Keb Mo. Country like Reba and George. R&B like Mary J. Blige. Rock like Everclear and Maroon 5. So...pretty much anything.

Movies:

All-time faves: Big, When Harry Met Sally and Pretty Woman. Other greats: Office Space (you show me your cube and I'll show you mine), Willy Wonka, Monty Python's Holy Grail and Life of Brian, anything Mike Myers, Garden State, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Dead Poet's Society, Fisher King, Finding Nemo, Married to the Mob...all sorts of random stuff.

Television:

Always on, even if I'm not watching it. Best show ever is Gilmore Girls, don't interrupt me when that's on. Otherwise, I'm into Grey's Anatomy, L&O: SVU, Ellen Degeneres show, Amazing Race, What Not to Wear, Dirty Jobs...

Books:

Love the classics. Now that I'm not in school I'll probably get back to reading more. My favorite author right now is John Irving, I've read A Prayer for Owen Meany (fave), World According to Garp, 158 Pound Marriage, Setting Free the Bears, Fourth Hand, Cider House Rules and the new Until I Find You. Also like Tom Robbins, Toni Morrison and some Kurt Vonnegut. Otherwise, Gulliver's Travels, She's Come Undone, The Naked and the Dead, Possessing the Secret of Joy, Poisonwood Bible, Circle of Friends, Uncle Tom's Cabin, To Kill a Mockingbird, Flyboys, Native Son, Once and Future King, Chocolate War, Catch-22...

Heroes:

I absolutely love and adore my grandparents, so I'd probably include them. A lot of great historical figures too, anyone who held to their beliefs and brought about change. And my former boss, of all people. If you knew me ten years ago and you know me now, you'll know why. Thanks boss, I miss you!

boys are dumb

My dad always told me that all men are pond scum. He didn't exclude himself from this generality either. I didn't believe him then. I do now. And he wasn't specifically referring to the guys of my gen...

Lesbian Polygamy

Lesbian polygamy. Why not? This may require that me, Kelly and Suz move to Utah since gay marriage and polygamy are both illegal here in CA, but only one is banned in Utah. So if one of us goes she-ma...
