[email protected] shining in the school nativity play, at age 5 as one of the three kings, and reciting the “ I Have a Dream “ speech in church at age 9, it’s been easy to see that Michael "DaLa-K" Cousin was destined for great things. Attending a performing arts middle school (DeRenne Middle) and then high school (Savannah High) set him on his path. Being a member of a local Savannah gospel group Destiny, (1994-96) had him touring Florida, S.E. Georgia, and South Carolina. While in high school, DaLa’s talents stood out after becoming a student teacher in chorus, and forming the R&B/Soul group Forte’. Appearing numerous times on "The Bandwagon" (a local tv show)and the local channel 3 mourning show (1995-1996), Winning most of the local Savannah talent shows from 1996-1998, and performances in Miami, Fla's MLK Day & Goombay celebration's (1996 & 97), landed the group the headlining spot in the Coke & Showtime at the Apollo sponsored S.E. talent search. He was also voted Most Talented of his senior class (1998). From 1998 to 2001 he attended college, (The State University of West Ga, and Savannah State University) majoring in Mass. Communications TV & Radio w/ a minor in Music/ Business & Marketing. In the summer of 2000, Dala-K ( then Bigg Kuzz ) joined The EMBCY, a local Savannah rap group/ record label out of SCAD, blessing 3 mix tapes with his vocal and verbal styles. In 2002, after The EMBCY broke up, he joined DFTC Records, and with label mates K-Loc and TKO, blessed the stage with some of the best in this game. After the deaths of two of his recording artist friends Camouflage and Universal (R.I.P.), he moved to Atlanta, Ga seeking a new vibe, and helped form the rap group Chrome Pipes, and indie label Stressed Out Mu-Sick ( 2004 ). Releasing the DJ Guess Who Presents Chrome Pipes 1st Eva Mix Tape (2005), Chrome Pipes CD and a Harris Homes Day performance (2006) sparked interest for DaLa-K in the "A" area. Along with performances at Lenny's Bar, Club Footprints, Jays Place, The Drunken Unicorn, and as a second round contestant in Jagged Edge's " Making the Next Hit" showcase (2007), now set to release his first solo album My Team (2008), it’s clear to see that DaLa-K is a force to be reckoned with.
