PreDestination formed in March 2005 with John Rudisill on vocals, Paul Mossey on guitar, Jon Karr on bass, and Doug Chambers on drums. John and Paul quickly discovered their chemistry for writing songs together. After playing out all over North Carolina, the quartet recorded the Live Demo in the spring of 2006. After almost two years of writing, performing, and recording with PreDestination, Doug left the band in January 2007 to pursue his side projects. Awaiting his return from Nashville, Dan Heckel kept in communication with his friends in PreDestination, as he used to be the bands photographer for the website. A drummer of 12 years, Dan filled the vacant position in May 2007. After almost 8 months and 8 shows as a cohesive unit, the band was forced to interrupt their progress. Dan Heckel underwent hand surgery in the first few days of 2008, sidelining him, and ultimately the band, for 6 to 8 weeks. When the band is able to resume their regular schedule, pre-production for the album (including the writing and demo process) will commence. PreDestination hopes to enter the studio this summer to record the album. The guys are also currently working on redesigning the live show, so when they play out again it will be an entirely new experience. In accordance with all the changes, we have also redesigned the website. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
John Rudisill's vocals have been a staple in Raleigh since the 1980's. As the singer for Arcanum, John Rudisill headlined the first three Wilson Metalfests. He was also the singer for the Raleigh metal band Onyx, who was signed with CMC International, and was once slated for a European tour with Accept. After years of experimenting with different projects, John Rudisill found a home with PreDestination.
Paul Mossey was born and raised in New York. Pauley began experimenting with music when he discovered the cello at 7 years old. Later, at age 11, he started playing guitar. By high school he was shredding for Horrid Blessing, winning band contests in the Albany NY area. He continued his musical education at the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned a degree in classical guitar.
Jon Karr is from WV. He started playing music at age 6 on violin but quickly grew disenchanted, later taking up piano at age 12 and finally guitar in his early 20's. He is a fairly recent convert to bass and plays mainly with a pick. By day he is a mad scientist running a university stable isotope lab.
Dan Heckel has been drumming since he was 10 years old. He has played with Float, Resolution Effect, and with members of Cast The First Stone. In September 2005, Dan Heckel earned his degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail in Florida. He recently moved back to Raleigh from Nashville, where he worked at Masterphonics Studios on country music's legendary Music Row.
