About Me

"The future of film is in the hands of the poet and his camera. Hidden away are the followers of a faith in 'pure cinema,' even in this unlikely age. They make their modest 'fireworks' in secret, showing them from time to time; they pass unnoticed in the glare of the 'silver rain' of the commercial cinema. Maybe one of these sparks will liberate the cinema."
Kenneth Anger, September, 1951
CRICKET SNAPPER, due to be released later this year, features Lawson Welles, Nancy Sadsad, Kelly Cook, Jon Saphire, Nicole Trabucco & Darya Zabinski. The film is based on the true story of a man who dies of a drug-induced heart attack while chained up in a Boston dominatrix's dungeon. We have 15 newspapers and 3 news stations which have covered us. And CRICKET SNAPPER's soundtrack features the music of Anton LaVey and Peter H. Gilmore.

Phoenix Rising Films was established in 2002. We are now in post-production on CRICKET SNAPPER, a six-year long labour of love. Also, currently in production is the documentary, WHY WE FOUGHT, comprised of interviews with World War Two and Korean War veterans.

LAWSON WELLES:

Writer, director, producer and star of the feature length neo-film noir murder thriller now in post-production.
Being that a picture can tell a thousand words, my MySpace photo gallery can speak volumes about me - past, present as well as future.
That being said, I have traveled to fourteen different countries around the globe and will journey to more at either the drop of a hat or an intriquing possibility of discovering another "undiscovered country" (this applies to the exploration of the uncharted regions of the mind and body as well)....

I live a few miles away from H.P. Lovecraft's stomping grounds, in a cozy, rather spacious Victorian nestled atop the Highlands of River Falls, where the wealthy elite once romped and played and socialized before the neighborhood went South and undesirables such as myself moved in. I live in the shadow of the hospital where my hero, John Huston, lay dying. So up here in the Highlands of River Falls, the director who created the film noir genre with THE MALTESE FALCON passed away, and his spirit then possessed the soul of the director who might just bring it to new heights... or its utter destruction with CRICKET SNAPPER. We'll just have to see about that, my friends. Say your prayers, folks!
And I am loved by a Golden-Haired Goddess who has brought the very best out in Me. If you thought I was good before I met Her, you ain't seen NOTHING yet. ;-)=
Welcome to my home here at MySpace. Come freely and of your own will, and leave a little of the happiness that you bring.
Very Sin-cerely Yours,
Lawson Welles

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Men and Women of deep character and passion, those incredible human beings with the great gift of seeing humour in even the strangest things, fellow world travelers and explorers into the deepest realms found on this earth and within our own souls.

Fellow filmmakers, actors, writers, directors, crew, musicians, artists and all other people on the fringe of society...

While I am very interested in communicating with people in the BDSM lifestyle, CRICKET SNAPPER is a murder mystery, not a lifestyle movie as others have advertised.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ANY AND ALL HTML ADVERTISEMENTS UNNECESSARILY CLOGGING UP THIS SITE WILL BE DELETED. WE DON'T DO IT IN YOUR HOME, DON'T DO IT IN OURS.

Sin-cerely, Lawson Welles
