About Me

It is said that we all are a product of our environment. The same can be said about the results of our individual efforts. The world was blessed with the life of Fiyah Marshall on June 4, 1982. Fiyah, the only son of two immigrants to Newark, New Jersey, was surrounded by music at a very early age. Fiyah's father was a well known DJ overseas as well as on domestic airwaves, from 98.7 KISS FM to 103.5 WDAS in Philadelphia. LP's, cassette tapes, and 45's played constantly at 138 Muhammad Ali Avenue in Newark's Central Ward, which was a musical hub due to the many different cultures that resided there.
Fiyah started as a singer, going the church route and ripping down solo after solo in the annual Christmas Program. As he grew older, Fiyah meshed his vocal talents with those of former schoolmates Andre Lucas, Tyrell Sanders, and Terrell Ingram, and they went by the name 4our Part Harmony (they thought this name was cool at the time). They sang at graduations, church services, and they really made a name for themselves in the schoolyard during recess, when they would serenade the young ladies, and Fiyah would often relinquish his tenor notes for beatboxing and freestyling.
Fiyah then caught the DJ bug when he watched a video of DJ Jazzy Jeff (one of his idols and role models). Fiyah recalls the Christmas he not only chose not to buy any gifts for his family, but overdrew his checking account by some $20 so he could afford his first set of belt driven turntables and a 2-channel mixer.
Mama Fiyah would have none of it, as she confiscated the equipment for one full year.
Needless to say, Fiyah found alternate means of practicing his craft, by sneaking to friends' homes, or by going to SKRATCH RECORDS on Lyons Ave after school. Fiyah entered high school at St. Benedicts Prep in Newark and was well known by the students and faculty as "the DJ".
Fiyah was a true student of not only hip hop, but of many different styles of music, and it showed in his song selection within his sets. Fiyah recalls listening to the radio every Friday to catch the MIX at SIX w/ DJ Darryl James, Tony Humphries, and Timmy Regisford, who were House Music ICONS. Fiyah then fell in love with House Music.
After Fiyah's first year of college at Fordham University in the Bronx, he still loved DJ'ing, but he felt he could make the songs themselves better, kinda like a remix.
Fiyah's transfer from Fordham to Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ led to him meeting Brieem "B-EZ" Towns, who was dibbling and dabbling with sampling at the time. He introduced Fiyah to the infamous FRUITY LOOPS program, and a monster was created.
Fiyah began making trax for local artists in the South Jersey area. He also produced for a Christian Rap group (LOGIC7) out of Delaware, but he felt people were not hearing his work. Fiyah got on the grind, doing collabos left and right, sending demos to A&R's of various record labels, and remixing hit songs for his self distributed mixtapes from 2001-2004. Fiyah's following slowly grew as the emergence of MySpace allowed millions of people to access his work with the click of a button. Fiyah linked up with RealEyez Mystic of Xequetive Board Entertainment to record "Wheel Whippin", a dedication to the East Coast Car Kings and Queens. The heavy bassline and "schoolyard" handclaps combined with Mystics confident flow make this track a clearcut smash single.
Fiyah is currently working on his project "Jersey Fresh Vol. 1: Tha Mixtape Sessions" which we feature all new and exclusive tracks by Grand Finaal, RealEyez Mystic, Malus, Avalanche, Sosa (IE Entertainment; DreamSound), and many other Jersey artists, all produced by Fiyah Marshall.
Ring the Alarm when you hear that Fiyah Marshall Beat, cause theres bound to be some HEAT in your area. Gritty one minute, relaxed the next, at the same time in your face and on your Brain, there is only one Fiyah Marshall sound.
WHAT MAKES YOUR SOUND ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THESE other PrOdUcERs, huh, HUH, huh???
LISTEN TO THE TRAX, THEY'RE FIYAH.
