Because his father was in the military, Kid Frost was raised on bases in Guam and Germany.Kid Frost's father also exposed him to Latin music as a child, when he began playing drums, guitar and keyboards.He began rapping about life in the tough sections of L.A. after returning there in his teens. Kid Frost played clubs with rapper Ice-T and got a contract with Virgin Records. Frost impressed critics with his debut album, Hispanic Causing Panic (1990), which was a healthy R&B and pop seller. It featured the anthemic "La Raza" and "Come Together," on which Frost preached peace.Kid Frost also founded the Latin Alliance, a group of Spanish rappers who issued an eponymous 1991 LP also featuring Mellow Man Ace and War."No Sunshine," a reworking of a Bill Withers hit, was featured on Kid Frost's East Side Story (1992) and in the prison drama "American Me." Also that year, Kid Frost participated on "City of Fallen Angels," a track that raised funds for relief efforts following the L.A. riots.Dropping "Kid" from his name, Frost released Smile Now, Die Later in 1995. When Hell.A. Freezes Over appeared in 1997. His most recent release is That Was Then, This Is Now, Volume 1 (1999).
