Tone Freq Recording Studio. Formally Final Mix

About Me

As seen in the Wave magazine:A recording studio is much more than a place to lay down tracks. It’s a place where hits are made, where bonds are formed and where dreams are realized. Often, recording is associated with huge studios and big artists in Los Angeles or New York, but Final Mix Studios in Campbell brings a comparable state-of-the-art studio to aspiring Silicon Valley artists.“Our studio is equipped with the latest in recording technology,” says studio operations manager and engineer Steve Glaze. “We are a fully digital Pro Tools studio, with a large selection of microphones and other equipment.”This equipment serves a number of purposes. The studio specializes in short-run CD duplication, producing retail-ready CDs, live sound production and mobile recording. But the studio is mostly used for recording and mixing – more than 2,000 artists and bands have taken advantage of the Final Mix facilities.Final Mix is the home studio of many local acts, including Strata, Lords of the Manor and 49ers wide receiver-turned-rapper Brandon Lloyd. “[We have] just about every major session player in the Bay Area,” says Glaze.Because of the large number of clients, the studio is booked nearly every day, but the studio still works overtime to accommodate their clients’ needs.“Although we are often booked up to three months in advance,” says Glaze, “we have a habit of squeezing in our clients whenever they need to have something done quick.”It’s this special attention, and the studio’s dedicated staff, that has kept some clients coming back for more than a decade. The studio’s four-person staff – which includes co-owners Steve Glaze and Jeffrey Bartlett, chief engineer Don Budd and CD duplication manager Michael Arnoldi – is focused on bringing out their artists’ full potential, so everyone’s happy with the end result.“Most people stay with us because of the service we provide them, our creativity and our dedication to helping them create their art,” says Glaze. “We pride ourselves on our ability to pull the most out of our clients, to let them feel comfortable, but to push them to be the best that they can be.”Obviously, this approach has worked. The studio has been going strong since 1995, and is planning on expanding to a two-studio facility in San Jose.If you’re an aspiring local artist looking to lay down some tracks, Final Mix Studios is the place to do it. Campbell may not have the same allure as L.A., but with the help of hometown experts who will dedicate themselves to your project, you’ll produce an album that sounds its best. - Tatiana Getty
